I worked at Celgard full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits-pretty good pay-hours are rotating shifts but they are manageable-nice people to work with-work is not hard

    Cons

not many perks- hard to get promotion unless you're in the click-no bonuses-raises are usually 2.5% once a year

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Eveyone needs to get on the same page. A lot of favoritism shown throughout the management perspectives

I worked at Celgard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are decent - primarily the insurance and 401k. My manager was one of the few good ones.

    Cons

Growth is limited to anyone without an engineering or business degree. Pay is mediocre.

HR has their hands in almost every aspect of the company and they impose superfluous requirements in departments they have no clue about.

Some of the managers are cut-throat and could careless about those that report to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put HR in its place. They are there to provide a service to the employees, but they are too involved to be anything but a hindrance.

I have been working at Celgard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

12 hour work schedule that allows for more days off during the month. Pay is good for the area and for a manufacturing job. - New CEO seems to have things in order and is making changes for a more productive and positive work environment. - Benefits (health, vision, dental & 401K) are excellent. It's a place where the right attitude will take you further.

    Cons

Employee negativity and laziness is a challenge. - Lower/Middle management isn't proficient across 4 shifts and can create challenges amongst team members. - Communication from upper management is a work in progress to say the least. - Also, there is a tendency to utilize negative reinforcement instead of rewarding positive behaviors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Team members would appreciate more positive feedback for jobs well done and goals met. Also, there needs to be more consistency of management across the shifts.

I have been working at Celgard full-time

    Pros

pay is ok. Benefits are better than most. 401K is currently doing well

    Cons

Absolutely worse collective group of management I have ever worked with. Micromanagers, skirt chasers, sycophants, and patronizing, condescending misanthropes. None in the facility can be trusted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate needs to take a serious look at the current group running the Concord facility. Very poor management team in place.

    Pros

    High growth potential
    Excellent Benefits
Flexible work environment; lots of opportunities to grow with the company

    Cons

Vacation time can be limited depending on seniority
The company is pretty much in a holding pattern until high growth customers materialize

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company has shifted its focus towards sales and marketing which is definitely the right direction. Only time is going to tell if the company is going to take off or not. Not a bad place to get into right now if you can.

I have been working at Celgard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Night shift is relaxed. Good medical and dental benefits, but those come from the parent company, so look for a job in the other company's of Polypore.

    Cons

Where to begin? The management staff is almost completely incompetent. They infight and bicker more than children. They do not care about the needs of the production employees, most notably night shift. Promotions are done solely on how much face time you have with management. Night shift is severely lacking in people, while day shift's have double the number of people for the same amount of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need a chain of command, a set hierarchy of who answers to whom. Stop expecting your people to go the extra mile for you, while you make it obvious you are not willing to do the same for them.

I have been working at Celgard full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits. Decent pay.

    Cons

Management promotes a team environment but only when it suits them. Not even close to a true team environment. Very poor communication from the top down. The management team does not promote or reward employees for hard work, skills or knowledge. Be prepared to do some boot licking if you want to go anywhere with this company. They have no idea how to utilize or evaluate talent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worry more about devoloping your good employees and less about treating them like school children.
