    Conflicted

    Manager (Former Employee) Billings, MT

    ProsFast paced industry, great for those that like change and challenge. Compensation can be good, at times. 401k is nice but takes a long time to vest. Very good at opening new locations and establishing profitability. Even with drawbacks, a good store provides opportunity and potential to enjoy job.

    ConsVery paranoid management, cameras are to watch the employees, not the premises or inventory. Very strong tendency to my way or the highway management style. Expects marketing ideas but only signs off on flyers and volunteerism, i.e., Will spend thousands on tv, radio and paper ads but won't invest $100 into permanent signage at local events. Lacks a coherent company vision and leadership. No communication of values and vision to employees. Inconsistent management from district to district, policies not consistently enforced. Nepotism.

    Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate goals and successes to employees. Allow managers to be managers, not higher paid employees. Tie bonuses to store performance, not personal goal.

    Management... Horrible

    ProsPay and hours were decent. good work/ life balance. Fun technology.

    ConsTraining... there is none. You are just thrown in the mix shadowing another employee. In this industry, it takes a long time to learn the ins and outs. if you aren't up on technology, its gonna be real tough for you to understand the job and be good at it. You have 7 metrics that need to be hit every month or you get written up. That can be hard to do sometimes with slow months. When new products launch, you are expected to sell them, with no training (not even basic sales training). If you arent selling it, you are getting chewed out by upper management. It wouldn't make the big of a deal, if you arent hitting your metrics, you are written up... But there is no coaching for areas you are lacking in and no training to make you a better salesman. They just expect you to have great numbers across the board.

    Advice to Senior ManagementTRAIN AND COACH YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!!!! instead of just saying "Taco Bell is hiring, would you like me to grab you an application". None of your reps are perfect at what they do and can be developed into reps that will increase business. It would be better for everyone!
