Pros
Free Sabre Training
Good Compensation
Free Travel benefits
Relaxed atmostsphere and dress code
Benefits start day one
Vendor kickbacks
Cons
Frequent closings and downsizing
Quanity sales not quality sales are expected
Bonuses can be retained easily
Promotion to other departments based on who you know not what you know
Advice to Senior Management
Try and pay attention to employees that are good, solid contributors, not just close friends for promotions. Management should not be so involved in its employees social life since its kills any air of professionalism.
Pros
large org has room resources available.
Cons
large org can get lost in the layers of resources
Advice to Senior Management
better organization
Pros
Something to put on a resume. It's a good first job, but most people leave after one or two years. Turnover is high in certain departments. If you're liked (personally) or you're a minority, prepare to stay.
Cons
There is limited growth opportunity. The work is not challenging. Doing above and beyond what's required is neither encouraged nor, sometimes, even recognized.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow people to grow into their role. Challenge them with projects. Make them learn new things and pay them well.
Pros
great pay and excellent stock options
good benefits and perks
good people to work with; very helpful and generally a happy group
Cons
Very competitive and very Wall Street focused, hard to get little things done, generally big iedas are implemented faster and the rewards are for big bottomline hits
Advice to Senior Management
Take a look at the details not just the big picture, the travel and hospitality business is taking care of little things not just big wins
Pros
Flexible work schedule, hard work of the employess are generally appreciated though it doesn't translate into promotions. Good bonus package.
Cons
Its very hard to get promoted from within and company fails to get rid of people that fail to carry their weight and are a drag on the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Clearing the company of dead weights routinely would help keep the employees that do work motivated and improve oppurtunities for career growth.
Pros
Cendant Travel has powerful and well known brands and many complementary business lines. They should have a holistic view of the consumer from demand to supply.
Cons
many layoffs (RIFs), too much powerpoint bingo rathern than real work. No real synergy between the business groups. Gigantic focus on stock price.
Advice to Senior Management
Not sure that all of this is management's issue. Problems arose with debt raise, etc. Best advice - stick to your knitting and continue to execute.
