    Pros

I have loved working here, nice small community that has been built. All employees are great to work with and there is always something different going on.

    Cons

Some of the work is repetative, but that is standard for most office jobs.

    Pros

    - Sales teams try and keep a community feel - Location? In the heart of London

    Cons

    - Receptionists that never smile (unless you know them) - Building and its businesses are not labelled properly (you get lost easily) - Dullest and smelliest toilets in a business I have ever been to - Worst meeting rooms ever, different chairs that are broken, no working booking system which means you get kicked out by more senior members - You are not allowed to have - Low pay - Senior management make decisions that affect day to day well being, removing fruit, company days out, no more bread, bad coffee - Worst IT system in place - hard to install software that is essential for your daily work. Be ready to wait 1 week to get something installed for you

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and stop looking for shareholder value, look for employee value. Recruit the right people and look after them. Spend a little bit more and they will be loyal, work harder and increase revenue. I think the CEO will be looking for an exit strategy, the current sales are not sustainable.

    Pros

Generally the culture is positive and most of my colleagues were amenable. Most of the products are strong and there are good prospects for internal promotion.

    Cons

At times sales expectations are unrealistic and the bonus/commission structure is poor.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Good starting job with a strong basic salary alongside nice bonus systems.

    Cons

Poor management with a narrow minded approach. Usually unqualified individuals are higher up and don't actively sell, they gain accounts from people calling in and buying. Completely unchallenging work that doesn't engage the creative aspect of your mind. Journalists also despise sales teams for no apparent reason other than perhaps jealousy. Dying industry that will fall victim to publishers like Buzzfeed.

    Advice to Management

Update the work and content you produce otherwise accounts will start falling. There is no real destination for news anymore and the quicker Centaur's board realise it, the quicker you will make more money and grow to be a power again.

    Pros

There are some amazing people working here at Centaur and the MD for exhibitions is a dream. Situated in the retail hub of London is it a great location for socialising after working hours. Also a great company for the CV.

    Cons

Salaries for the sales team are dismal, it is literally a case of living pay check to pay check and there are no signs of improvement. I have seen a huge amount of people leave over the past couple of months alone due to this. I have also been requesting career development training for over a year and I have received nothing. Working conditions have also become very cramped. There are no opportunities to recognise the 'little people'. We have a monthly 'exceptional performance' award, but unless you are a key player and higher up the ladder there is no chance of being recognised this way.

    Advice to Management

Centaur need to realise that until they dramatically ramp up salaries for the executives, employees will continue to leave the company on a regular basis for bigger and brighter opportunities. The salaries simply do not reflect the cost of living in London. Instead of hiring more experienced people externally, focus on training the talent you already have. Also make more of an effort to reward the 'little people'- execs, co-ordinators, assistants etc.

    Pros

Good name to have on CV. Seemingly positive changes ongoing in terms of greater coordination and synchronisation of the many brands under the Centaur banner

    Cons

Starting salary is low, especially for London.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the changes coming!

    Pros

Centaur has always been strong on teams and working in a friendly environment. Many life long friendships and relationships are developed here and many a person has left for 'greener pastures' only to return to the welcoming arms of Centaur.

    Cons

Centaur is going through major change to bring itself into the new world order of media (as all media firms have had to do). While that is happening it seems to have lost its gentleness and staff are treated as numbers, not people.

    Advice to Management

Bear in mind that your top talent are human beings. To go through change does not need to mean treating people badly. Stop doing things to people and start involving all levels in decisions.

    Pros

Some good brands, some good managers

    Cons

Poor basic salary, muddled leadership, poor operational resource

    Advice to Management

Give the operations teams some more resource. Management need to be careful that it's not a place where mediocrity is tolerated.

    Pros

Great location, good salary, hours and benefits.

    Cons

Staff recognition is poor, little understanding of day to day issues faced by staff or realities of the business, do not capitalise on business opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Recognise and value staff, listen to feedback provided by staff that could allow for opportunities. Expand your portfolios and stop concentrating on waning markets.
