    Pros

Helping clients and learning how to help clients while living in a residential program. Learning how to work with the system of child protective services.

    Cons

Management is corrupted, within some programs. Favoritism is a large part of the program I was in. Communication is lacking and policies are as up to date as they should be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with staff. Instead of "weekly" meetings that happen once a month, make time to discuss things with staff. Policies should be updated and simplified.

    Pros

This agency does great work in multiple communities.

    Cons

Inconsistency in management and agency wide policies make follow through difficult.
Benefits also require a large contribution from employees.

    Large and growing organization

    Pros

The layout of the main headquarters, on Benson Street in Camden, is awkward and seems to keep people in their offices.

    Cons

Offers some flexibility in scheduling. Close to PATCO if you live in Philly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay to attract the proper experience and education.

  6.

    Pros

Diminishing. Work independently good interactions w clients qualified staff dedicated staff

    Cons

New management structure created a new level of middlemen that is inefficient. The new management talks only to itself and creates policies without considering practical implementation or impact on how programs operate. No pay raise in 8 years! Micromanaging staff on small matters. Workloads are overwhelming and cannot be accomplished in a work week. Have to take work home or work on weekends on a regular basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start involving program directors in policy development. Address the obvious inefficiencies and be more supportivem

    Pros

Good company with positive community impact and outreach. Good benefits, laidback atmosphere most of the time. People are committed to the programs. Allowed to work independently. Diversity.

    Cons

Inefficient systems, set in their ways. Things get overlooked, not much mobility. Sometimes things are slow and other times frantic, there needs to be a better way to manage time and resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate your processes and employees. Make them accountable. Support them. Look at the big picture.

    The worst residential experience ever

    Pros

provide services for children on a whole

    Cons

Specifically, the YES program is more interested in the money coming in per client then the service rendered. Proper staff ratio of 1 to 5 clients is often compromised especially overnight/3rd shift duty. Clients do not receive adequate discipline for their behavior even when it is criminal. The clients act like it is the YES, WE CAN Program where they are free to be mutinous!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Never have a male-based and female-based client residential facility with in walking distance of each other and still expect staff to keep the two parties separate. It is an IMPOSSIBLE task. It only places your staff in jeopardy ethically as they play the middle. Do not make it obvious that the staff face greater and swifter disciplinary action whether justified or not then the clients who are there for criminal misdemeanors and felons.

    Pros

Very caring about your family. This agency cares about the personal needs of its employees. If you have a sick child, you are not left to feel guilty for taking off. Management cares about your personal well being.

    Cons

The work load increases and the pay does not. Employees are expected to go above and beyond and we are not compensated for our efforts. Raises have not been given in over 4 years, but the workload increases. Many of the resources needed to complete our job is limited. You are expected to perform at a certain level, but there are so many things (computers, etc.) preventing you from delivering services at your best. Human Resources is horrible!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you see something isn't working, change the strategy. I've seen great employees leave that have dedicated many years with the agency. Not because they didn't like their job, but because they didn't feel appreciated. The larger CFS becomes, the less appreciated we feel. It becomes about everything else. The money spent on staff events would rather much be put in our pockets, especially since our salaries have not increased.
