I worked at Centinela Hospital Medical Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Best reasons for working here include a community that does not have many options for quality healthcare in their immediate area. The community needs qualified, caring, skilled workers.

    Cons

This hospital does not adequately train staff. Medical personnel are put on the floor without sufficient training and an extreme lack of support. Staff are continuously expected to do more with less and it's the patients that are suffering from this lack or responsible training, support, and consistent leadership. Staff are rude to each other and rude to patients. Policies that change constantly with very little communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's time you recognize that you need to offer more than 6 weeks of training, especially for your critical units. This community deserves well qualified, fully supported staff. There is an air of intolerance and people are afraid to ask for help or clarification because management is very punitive and demeaning.

    Pros

Has a great group of people working there and there is a family feeling. Good place to get a lot of different experience in any field you work in. Everyday us something new.

    Cons

For a pretty big hospital and new technology and all the remodeling that's taking place, the pay sucks. I've been doing phlebotomy for 4 years now and I have gotten paid more at smaller places

    Cons

Very stressful. Too many patients but not enough staff to effectively manage patient care.

I worked at Centinela Hospital Medical Center

    Pros

Down to earth coworkers and patients for the most part. When push came to shove in certain situations, people teamed up and made things happen.

    Cons

Not everyone shares the same work ethic and management does not value employees. Compensation abysmally lower than market rate and potential for more fair compensation not in sight. Union rep and union steward left a bad taste in my mouth and I did not want to have anything to do with them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and have some integrity.
