I worked at Central Arizona College part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Was a good professional work environment. And for the most part was a low stress environment. Most of the people that I worked with were just good people. As far as the job goes and the people. I was happy.

    Cons

The pay was not astronomical, but along with another job, it took care of me for that time of my life.

I have been working at Central Arizona College full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good, but they won't be around for much longer according to current administration.

    Cons

The hiring committee practices are suspect and there is a terrible culture of bullying that has been around for years. Be careful of anyone that has been around for years as they are probably the ones doing the bullying. The turnover is terrible though most people you encounter will be a new employee with little to no training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Major problems at this college exist because of lack of ethics stemming from hiring and firing practices at the college. Other major problems include lack of financial competence. Decisions regarding 4 day work week, elimination of scholarships, etc are made with only short term refection and little or no analysis of the long term effect on the college or community. There is a real gap in leadership in this area.

I worked at Central Arizona College full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They have excellent benefits and compensation!

    Cons

It is difficult to get anything done because of the bureaucracy at the administrative level.

I have been working at Central Arizona College

    Pros

The amount of time off you recieve, trying to provide the students with a safe and enjoyable educational experience, the relationships with my co workers, the retirement and benefit packages. We recently had a change at the top.

    Cons

we are constantly recieving threats(but we are not threatening you) management seems to feel that all employees are robots, if you want to advance you need to be related to someone, to become a manager, all you need to do is read motivational posters and memorize all of the catch phrases you can, there is no such thing as constructive criticism, just criticism oh yeah and threatening our jobs.made to do work that is above our pay grade. Just plain uncivilness. No raises but we consistently hear about the president/ceo recieving 40,000 dollar bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

my advice to management is that when something is done incorrectly, instead of just threatening our jobs, maybe get us some training so that we my do things properly. cost of living raises would be nice. One final piece of advice would be if you hire someone to fill a job, make sure they are qualified before you put them in charge of people.

the lack of support for staff
    no incentives to go beyond

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

do what you say and actually trust your employees
