I have been working at Central States Funds full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The Fund has a great staff, benefits, tuition reimbursement, 2 weeks vacation in addition to PTO days and a sti-pend for lunch! The compensation is very good too. You cannot beat the comradery within the Participant Services Department. Everyone gets along very well! It's really a great place to work.

    Cons

Your average Call Center cons- the way information is decimated to the floor. One group not being told about a process. Other than that it really is a nice place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would improve communications if there was an actual "Training Team" that was responsible for documenting processes, maintaining and updating matierial and to train new material.

    Pros

Lots of autonomy if desired. Decent hours with some flexibility. Great employee health benefits. Some possibilities for advancement. Easy access by both train and car.

    Cons

Outlook much better on health than pension side.. Not all managers listen to suggestions for improvement and some are more resistant to change than others. Advancement not always based on skills.

I have been working at Central States Funds full-time

    Pros

Central States offers a great opportunity out of college, along with great benefits (401K, health, etc.). The shorter workday is a plus and the people are great. It really is a family atmosphere.

    Cons

    - Very little room for advancement.
    -Too many employees become "life-ers".
    - Management has very old mentality. As a result, the entire company struggles to adapt to change.

I have been working at Central States Funds full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

*Company paid health insurance (no payroll deductions for premiums).
*Great work/life balance (35 hour work week with flexible starting times). Having such a flexible schedule allows me to attend children't school functions, doctors appointments and run errands with ease.
*401(k) with match and company paid Pension.

    Cons

There are opportunities for advancement but the timing can be frustrating. The people are very nice but sometimes set in their ways.

I have been working at Central States Funds

    Pros

    - Great co-workers, young and fun department, very laid back
    - Great Benefits (fully paid health, vision, dental insurance, 10 vacation and 12 sick days, 401k, pension)
    - Great work hours (35 per week) and flex scheduling (start between 6 and 930 am and work 7 hour days)
    - Plenty of feedback on your work so you know where you stand

    Cons

    - Travel about 1-2 times per month, mostly in the midwest (St. Louis, Detroit, Indianapolis areas)
    - The work isn't very exciting. It is compliance auditing of employer payrolls.
    - Not much room for growth within the company, only within the department.
