Pros
Sr. Management was responsive to HR Leadership to how manage talent being key to company success
Cons
When economy got tough French parent company tended to micro manage CertainTeed even though CertainTeed had shown relative success in downward spiraling market.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on talent as compettiive advantage. Continue to drive innovation
Pros
Benefits are pretty good and the pay is above average I think. Some of the people are friendly and very helpful.
Cons
Long hours, a lot of dust in the building, the roof leaks and when it rains we have to try to get the water off the floor.
Advice to Senior Management
They need to communicate more with the employees, and show some respect for us and our feelings. They need to follow through with things that they start and don't forget about them, except for when the big bosses come for a visit.
Pros
CertainTeed has a great brand, incredible products, wonderful people, and in some cases a decent work-life balance for its employees.
Cons
If you are not a white male it is very hard to advance. There is a Women's group that helps with mentoring and navigating the male-dominated culture, but it is never enough. With very few exceptions, the talented women leave because they cannot move up in the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Try a less biased approach when developing talent.
Pros

Tough to grow past a certain level if not French
Too many Penn Staters at Corporate, need more diversity

Keep doing the basic things right, but also may need a little more audacity w/ innovation

The culture and the people.
Cons
Interview process went on forever.
Advice to Senior Management

Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Good Opportunity with known brand
Cons
Window Facilities sale to Plygem was timely.
Advice to Senior Management
Tough Markets take tough, flexible people.
Pros
Good technical support that allows you to be able to work from home and or hotels. Great essential resources when it comes to the wide variety of products under the CertainTeed umbrella.
Cons
They are a good old boys club. Middle management does not promote employee growth. Lack of communication from the top down to the field is extremely poor. They are not the leader in the industry that they once were and they can't seem to move past that and into the here and now.
Advice to Senior Management
They need to listen and respect the knowledge of their long term employees when it comes to customers needs. They also need to respect those employees who have given them 20 +years of service.
Pros
With variety of departments to work in due to the large product pool.
Cons
Too much politics being played. If your not in the inner circle your not being looked at to advance.
Communnication is not done with top management to lower departments. Some depts are cut so thin the resources aren't there to support sales.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a good look at the real workers in the field and listen to what they and their accounts need to sell the products. They seem to let go of employees that reach a certain age & tenure.
Pros
Good benefit package, understanding of family situations, strong company
Cons
Current state of the construction market
Advice to Senior Management
Acquire competitors
