    Pros

great people to work for and great products. Flexible work schedules and a diverse amount of projects to work on

    Cons

Newly formed textron aviation is still getting its footing. New products coming to market and a lot of work placed on engineers.

    Advice to Management

Hire more experienced staff and not so many fresh graduates with little to no manufacturing experience.

    Pros

Great work/life balance. Every couple years there's a "crunch" time where 60 hour weeks are commong, but it usually only lasts for a couple months. Not too bad. Cessna does pay overtime if you're under a certain pay grade, so it can be an opportunity for extra income. Pay is good for the midwest. Company is friendly and relaxed at times, which makes for a fun environment.

    Cons

Sometimes projects can get cancelled and there is a lot of report writing since we have to appeal to the FAA.

Poor in Human Resources and encouragement of human capital

    Pros

Enjoyed what I did each day, enjoyed the people I worked with. Had numerous group leads and got along well with all of them. Good work-life balance

    Cons

Pay could be better. 1st level management and the personal growth to that level is being phased out for higher level managers being asked manage dozens of people. Loss of too many experienced engineers who are all replaced by new college hires.

    Advice to Management

There have been numerous cancelled projects, and with each, the confidence of management to make correct decisions is eroded.
Work harder to keep the quality employees who are fleeing Cessna to take higher paying jobs elsewhere.

    Pros

    Friendly, simple and honest people
    Above average pay
Learn a lot about general aviation

    Cons

    Politics
Mgmt decision making is not always rational
Still relies on rules of thumb
    Not progressive

    Advice to Management

Stop moving people around every 3 months. Start being transparent with your employees.
Invest in report automation, invest in young talent and try to retain said talent

    Pros

Cessna was a great company to work for. They were my first job. The people there really treat you like a person, not just another number or "the intern." They allow employees to have time with family and stress a work/life balance.

    Cons

Bureaucracy prevents innovation. Projects get abandoned or neglected because of red tape and reluctance to change things.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to new ideas. Emphasize better communication between engineers/business/financial.

    Pros

Decent salary, best name brand in the GA industry, work life balance is great

    Cons

Leadership has been gutted over the past 3 years, and the company is left with a severe lack of true knowledgable leaders. The culture is purely cut throat now, it is no longer a company that makes money and takes care of its employees

    Advice to Management

Ditch the "GE" mentality, keep investing in the future as you have been, bring in better leaders in senior positions.
