I have been working at Chalhoub as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    1) Widespread functions and ability to move across divisions
    2) Family-run attitude - welcoming and doens't feel "too corporate"
    3) Friendly and helpful employees

    Cons

    1) Growing in scale, but sometimes mindset of old management not evolving
    2) Need more evolving processes

Former Contractor - Department Manager in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

I worked at Chalhoub as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

This employer is a western standards employer in the middle east. The company bounds themselves with standards higher than the required by law in Dubai. They even did not take back the assistance money I got from them for relocation (was about a month salary) even the contract said I needed to pay it back is I stayed less than 2 years.

    Cons

Not much flexibility from HR in certain areas, could be related to tight employment regulations in UAE, for example regarding bank account papers etc.

I have been working at Chalhoub full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Its a large organization which is growing every single day, so you get to learn a lot. Decent pay and benefits. It is a dream company for any graduate to start his/her career, really appreciate the culture of finding talents without prior working experience and investing time and money on the graduates.

    Cons

    Long working hours, work load

I worked at Chalhoub full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

My first job, and I would highly recommend it for fresh graduates because they get exposed easily and fast to a very energetic cooperate environment, while maintaining a family atmosphere.
Easy going managers. Branches have more relaxed atmosphere compared to the head office.
Found that us, as employees working in Chalhoub, are highly sought after, from other retail companies.

    Cons

Salaries were below average, although the company was doing so well in the market.
Different level of satisfaction will be found in different divisions, and specially different countries. I know that employees in Kuwait are less satisfied with their management.

I have been working at Chalhoub as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

they keep good relationship to their staff, and give importance to their seniors staff

    Cons

they are hiring management staff from outside than promoting staff from their team is the reason most of the seniors are resigning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

give chance for promoting old employees, most of the employees are senior and there for min 10yrs above but they are still in the same position because they hiring managers etc from outside.
