Sydney (Australia)

Current Employee – been working at Channel Nine full-time for more than a year

ProsThe company has a great strategy and are willing to adapt and change with the market and never rest of their laurels.

ConsThe company has undergone quite a few company restructures in the past 2 years and it is hard to keep up with the changes and who looks after what.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop with the amount of company restructures and team changes for a while so the staff can get used to the structure. Also there are two many levels of management.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Channel Nine full-time for more than 7 years

Prosconvenient city location + bycicle lockup + showers
only exceptional work will be rewarded, but that will be rewarded relatively generously
those who just 'get the job done' get on a performance management program = eveveryone has to work hard

Consnot the lack, but the utter non-existence of training
it's a 50-50% JV between Microsoft and Nine, and as a result, it's neither here nor there
young company, but it thinks it's cooler than it is
huge turnover
it's a relatively small group which means that there are very few career opportunities

Advice to Senior Managementtraining... not just for the executives. There should be something every couple of months, even if it's half day on a Friday afternoon.

ProsNot too stressful, good hour, friendly people, don't feel pressure from mangers, flexible working time, nice age mix, no red tape

ConsAvg salary, boring work, no one care about innovation, no one push u to achieve more, can't see mangers often

Advice to Senior ManagementIt is a very good company but u need to pay us more to be competitive and also have more variety

Sydney (Australia)

Former Employee – worked at Channel Nine

ProsWorkload was reasonable (for internet companies which tend to require a heavy load). Beautiful offices in downtown Sydney.

ConsSome staff members can be a bit immature and think a bit highly of themselves when they are actually quite green (Oh, aren't we the coolest....we work in new media"). Desk seating is totally open plan -- not even cubicle walls to provide the slightest privacy. I like open plan but having no dividers is really too open for me.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed a clear plan for the year clearly communicated to everyone...it doesn't always trickle down through all managers. But mainly congrats on having a great service to work on and treating staff fairly.
