    Pros

Small company and everyone know your name, not a stressful environment.

    Cons

Some managers want to control and be part of everything in the company instead of spending time on what is important.

I worked at Charles River Apparel full-time

    Pros

Some good people work here. That's pretty much it.

    Cons

A very micro-managed environment and poor company culture created by the corner office. Employees are pawns and not well respected. Tight budgets so they say even when things are good and don't hold your breath when it comes to bonus time. They say one thing and turn around and do the opposite. Get everything in writing and watch your back!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stand up to the Boss and do what's right for the benefit of all or nothing will ever change. Talk is cheap!

I have been working at Charles River Apparel full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1. Health Plan

    2. Some of the people are decent

    Cons

    1. It's a "revolving-door" company.
There's little to no room for advancement, and management seems to play favorites thus resulting in numerous long-term people leaving just within the last year.

    2. There is a LOT of laziness/cutting corners.
A lot of people getting away with slacking off, constant unprofessionalism, and derogatory behavior. And yes, management knows this (hence the "plays favorites" above).

    3. Departments may vary.
Production is okay, Sales is not that great, and the Warehouse is a complete nightmare. Profanity, arguments, sexual comments about women who visit (warehouse) from other departments, favoritism, and gossiping. Both supervisory and the workers alike.

    4. Too relaxed of an environment.
There always seems to be money for parties (excuses for people to get wasted during business hours) but come time for raises, you're out of luck (it's scary low in certian depts.). Also, there's a lot of flirting going on (some of which are married).

    5. People seem to do as they please.
And yet still complain about having to work for a living, there are some serious cry-babies (and back-stabbers) here, and some seemingly down right degenerate people, but not all of them.

    6. The pay is low.
Compared to the average salary-range in comparable fields. Also seems to be "too broke" to pay accordingly, but amazingly has the money to throw little "beer bashes" on occasion.

Also, the company is going nowhere fast. They'll tell you sales are up, but they just let go a lot of good people over really petty reasons (money). And are also cutting budgets left and right.

If this sounds like your kind of place then Good Luck (you're gonna need it). Don't say you weren't warned

I worked at Charles River Apparel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Satisfactory benefits, casual work environment. Employees are not expected to take their work home with them.

    Cons

Very poor work culture, managers range in ability from good to very poor, even damaging. I learned to keep extensive documentation because "throwing you under the bus" was a frequent occurrence. The HR position wasn't valued (and went unfilled for a long period of time) which led to rampant bad behavior - from the lowest levels up to the VPs. No room for advancement. Lack of vision for the future of the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Poor management drags down company morale and productivity. Making employees feel like valued individuals is good for business.

I have been working at Charles River Apparel full-time for less than a year

    Pros

some people are nice, like my trainers for instance were great at taking me through things step by step. they have a great pay and benefits package.

    Cons

management is awful, they were so rude to the point that i would cry after work everyday. i was belittled and made to feel useless, i was also lied to about what i was brought in to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the HR person needs to go, she tends to tell lies and blame employees for her shortcomings.

I have been working at Charles River Apparel

    Pros

Charles River allows casual wear in the office. They are also are a dog friendly work place. They do have employee lunches.

    Cons

Charles River does not provide a lot of job training. There can be some micro management. Sometimes there is pressure to get tasks done in a short amount of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more more structure, and more direction for employees. Information needs to be told to employees with more advance notice.

I have been working at Charles River Apparel

    Pros

Great people to work with. Family environment. Dog-friendly work place. Relaxed work environment/clothing. I saw another person post a bad review and I was shocked. That person who posted the one star review obviously not a current employee and must have been let go and is disgruntled. HR Dept at Charles River is great, positive and uplifting. HR Director specifically is always there to listen and provide career and general life guidance. Company has a lot of great people.

    Cons

Would be great if they added a work from home or flex time policy (maybe just summer hours).
