    Pros

+ You work with other Type A individuals + You get free covered parking and the mall is next door when you run late and need a gift in a hurry + The company Holiday party is usually quite nice (+1 included) + An apple and cookie once a week are nice, but the addition of free monthly beer festivities would be better

    Cons

    - Beware of those Type A individuals - When 'the fun work' becomes just plain 'work', it is time to look elsewhere

    Pros

The only pro according to me is the flexibility to move across groups (if you are performing well) and the slightly above-average comp the firm offers. ( I believe they need that to to attract talent, there is no other reason why anyone would want to work with them)

    Cons

    - The firm does not offer any sort of career growth what so ever. The position you start in, would most likely be the position you'll stay at irrespective of your performance or the firm's performance - Senior management is fired left, right and center. The firm keeps hiring new people at the senior most level and tends to fire experienced employees who have 10+ years with the firm - A lot of recent initiatives the firm is involved with a going absolutely no where - For college grads, this is the last place you should come to, if you are ambitious and want to end up with a good career and a strong skill set in the market. CRD does a very good job of providing none of these.

    Pros

Very smart people; challenging work and all are friendly and willing to help. As the company grows, there is more internal mobility/career options. There is not a lot of extraneous process and politics.

    Cons

You work very hard most of the time and because the work is challenging, there are some long days.

    Advice to Management

Don't lower your standards. Management should practice more MBWA

    Pros

They hire the best talent available and have built a great pool of expertise over many years. It is a collegial atmosphere with free sharing of ideas. The latest Java and C# technology keeps you current. Upper levels of management have high competence - the company doesn't make decisions lightly. The president/owner of this privately held firm is still highly involved in the business and technical aspects. Compensation and benefits are on par or better than others. The company works at a steady but somewhat fast pace - everyone is expected to be a strong contributor and on their game. The work hours are reasonable for the most part - I've worked other jobs with much higher demands. Work time is flexible with some core hours.

    Cons

It can be difficult to move around in the company, there isn't a formal process in place to make it happen across the business units. However, people are promoted from the inside when possible to fill needed roles. The company supports self-improvement through internal training; tuition reimbursement is not a formal benefit. The strong team culture makes working from home less effective and therefore doesn't happen very often.

    Advice to Management

People may be happier for the long haul if given the opportunity to switch job roles or groups once in a while. The company could do more in the way of in-house (or external) training including technology and management techniques to help people grow.

    Pros

good base salary, no bonus but compensated in the base salary.

    Cons

no democracy in terms of software development, very top down and dictatorial kind of workplace. Generally people are scared to voice their opinion and give advice to the management for improving the product.

    Advice to Management

Try to bring better transparency and friendliness culture. Provide more opportunity, flexibility and career options for employees.

    Pros

Solid, growing product Steep learning curve early on - expected to take on client deliverable independently from the very start (could be a con for some) Fast-paced, aggressive culture with high visibility in the management (could be a con for some) Good starting salary and better than average increments (much better if you prove your worth and manage to communicate to the right people) Lately Company has been making significant efforts in making the culture more employee friendly - focus on retention Flexible schedule - working from home is acceptable, focus more on delivery of quality work

    Cons

Difficult to navigate and get information when dealing with product/client issues - need to build personal relationships and engage the right people - not everybody's cup of tea There could be times when there is not enough work - it affects your bonus, affects your review for no fault of yours Management is rigid about execution, decisions taken at the top are firm and employee feedback and engagement not encouraged. To succeed, you need to follow the rules. It could be a big con for experienced professionals used to different culture.

    Advice to Management

Do more to promote company culture Promote informal cross-functional meetings Provide more visibility into company's direction and decisions taken at the top

Good pay and decent growth but beware if you are in the onset of your career. It could go either ways.

    Pros

If you are in the good books of the right people at the firm you are going to have a smooth ride. Expectations are set very high and one needs to push himself in order to keep pace with rest of the employees which makes it a competitive environment for growth. Lots of opportunities to learn outside one's domain. High visibility in this firm considering the number of employees and hierarchy .

    Cons

Too many changes too often indicate that organization structure and strategy lacks planning and execution. Entire firm is at the mercy of its CEO and since its completely privately owned, growth tends to shunt at a given point after which employees leave. Whole and sole purpose is to generate revenue for the firm and overall it lacks an amicable work culture or environment. Not enough opportunities to network with peers . Firm is too Silo'd similar to a robot where left arm has no idea what the right leg is meant to do as long as robot is walking and moving right .

    Pros

Lots of smart people. Ability to work with some very high profile clients. Good technology and pretty current. Will be given a fair amount of lattitude to get your job done.

    Cons

Corporate culture is fairly sterile. It's mostly about getting the job done and you're just another body. No tuition reimbursement unless you plead a case for it. Firm way over promises to clients which creates havoc later on.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees and enough with the b.s. and finger pointing. Mananagement is always looking to blame their failures on someone lower on the totem pole.

    Pros

Software engineers are encouraged to learn about the business domain, with free lunch seminars offered among other things. Current developers were retained during the recent migration to newer technology--no mass layoffs. Rarely dull, there is always a new technical challenge. Compensation is very good. Fairly relaxed atmosphere. Mobility between different development roles is available--for example moving from individual developer to team leader and back again, or moving to another development team.

    Cons

Not many social activities, no foosball tables or similar things (not a con for me but it would be for some). Must be self-directed--it can be hard to get needed information, you need to be a bit of an 'internal entrepreneur'. Unproductive employees don't last (not really a 'con' but people need to be aware of this).

    Advice to Management

More recognition of employee achievements...though this has been getting better over time.
