    Pros

decent benefits, great people, great place to start in the industry, atmosphere can be fun, flexible with work and life balance.

    Cons

not focused on trading at all, lower pay than street average, rigid bureaucracy, upward mobility difficult, disconnected management.

    Advice to Management

The lack of consistency in management decisions and the inability of the most experienced and hard-working employees to move up causes high turnover. Management should work harder to retain talent.

    Pros

Progressive company considering the industry. Innovative culture that is open to new ideas. Lots of career opportunities due to different businesses within Schwab. Management encourages career growth. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

Sometimes it feels like management is chasing the flavor of the month. Cap Ex spending allocations can change quickly. Pay is average at best, but sometimes below industry median.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Great culture, honest business run with conservative financial controls, excellent colleagues

    Cons

Limited room for advancement, constant downsizing in San Francisco

    Advice to Management

The high quality talent pool in the San Francisco Bay Area is worth far far more than you seem to think currently. Schwab would not be anywhere near as successful today if Chuck had tried to launch it in Phoenix, Denver, Orlando, or India - the locations the company is in the process of moving all but a small handful of executive jobs to right now.
