I have been working at Charming Shoppes

    Pros

There have been some recent changes and announcements that are great for the company moving forward. Senior Leadership is retiring and the new executives are easier to work with and have built strong reputations for themselves in the retail industry. TThe cost of benefits decreased through the healthy living program up to $40 per month.

    Cons

Lack of communication from the top and room for advancement is spotty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase communication and have opportunities for advancement for some of the newer employees who are doing a great job.

    I worked at Charming Shoppes

    Pros

    Close to home
Ability to learn the basics of retail management
New fashion every season-ability to assist customers with shopping needs

    Cons

    poor quality clothing
    lack of promotional opportunity
management seems out of touch with sales staff-ackward DM visits-frustrating
only interest is obtaining new credit accounts-

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really listen to what sales staff is saying.. poor quality clothing is affecting overall business reputation. Style should enhance plus-size customers of all ages.. fashion is too young for women ages 35-40-a NEW CEO already?? There were two changes when I worked there!

    I worked at Charming Shoppes

    Pros

The benefits are great, and there are ample opportunities for career enhancement, training etc.

    Cons

The lack of communication is obvious throughout the organization regarding corporation direction, growth opportunites, health of the business etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to change and to the exchanging of ideas and delegation. It all can't be done "at the top" and there are a lot of very talented people that come to the table with "outside" experience that may help reverse some of the bad decisions and policies made thus far.

    Cons

I have been working at Charming Shoppes

    Pros

If in the right department, the work environment is great with lots of communication from the top. Some departments do not have as much communication.

    Cons

Leadership has been distracted by proxy battle. New changes in leadership has led a feeling of not knowing the direction of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Areas under some EVPs got significant raises this year while other area did not receive any raises. Cuts have not been equal across the board. Secret promotions passed out around the company hurt as well when secrets were passed around between associates.
