    Pros

All types of problems come at you all the time. The team is composed of people with interesting and relevant backgrounds. The team works incredibly hard to maintain the high level of satisfaction among clients

    Cons

Occasional confusion as to new product rollouts. Lack of non gaming clients if you are not into games. Multiple offices create confusion at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep the spirit of the early days in the company! Hire only the smartest people you can find.

    Pros

    - Tons of opportunity to work on various projects at many skill levels
    - Flexible schedules, fair amount of time off
    - Lots of talent around
    - Well organized engineering organization (as of the past 4 months or so)
    - Cool office
    - Some really awesome people

    Cons

    - Office politics are bad, it's unclear if any effort is made to acknowledge it or do anything about it
    - Engineers who become managers do not commit to the role of manager
    - Extremely rapid hiring growth means spending a disproportionate amount of time training new hires
    - Folks who have been here a while seem content with mediocre job performance
    - Distracting work environment (but headphones are usually O.K.)
    - Excessive waste of electricity (if you're environmentally conscious this is a con)
    - Unconscious habits: some folks don't know how to separate trash/recycling/compost-or don't care-, leave messes in the kitchens and order things like steaks when they're not even in the office.... hundreds of gallons of water wasted for nothing, in the middle of an extremely bad drought (not to mention the life of that animal).

    Advice to Management

Reprimand the gossipers and communicate zero tolerance for unprofessional behaviors such as this: I discovered my salary information had been shared by someone with someone else who is not privy to that information. More management training and accountability for your young managers: the workplace can be fun and professional at the same time. Celebrate and reward employees who own their mistakes, take responsibility for their work, and who take initiative and execute. Review the value-add of so many middle managers.

    Pros

The office is incredible and the benefits are great.
Compensation seems in line with market, depending on your position.

    Cons

The leadership team consists of the CEO who micromanages everyone on a one-on-one basis. The rest of the "leadership team" seems completely demoralized and disengaged.
You would expect morale to be high in a tech company in a cool industry, that offers good pay and great benefits and that provides a great work environment for their employees. Instead there is a palpable lack of energy and happiness among employees. I believe this comes directly from the top.

    Advice to Management

Get on the same page and act as a unified team. Read "The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team" Don't micro-manage or put people in charge of managing a function that they know nothing about.

    Pros

I wake up every day excited to come to work..... even with a 1.5 hour commute. We are constantly faced with interesting challenges that stretch our knowledge and force us to learn. And in the end it's to further a good cause that I sincerely believe in (helping indie app devs earn a living).

    Cons

I do have a 1.5 hour commute.... but that's mostly my fault. I've considered moving to SF but the rent anywhere near the office is ridiculous.

Difficult engineering culture. Marketing company with relatively small engineering focus.

    Pros

    - Low hiring bar (for those who want a job)
    - Chill work culture
    - Low expectations
    - Financially stable (has revenue)

    Cons

All the comments in thie review are personal views. Reader should decide for him/herself.

    Poor compensation
    - Salary below market rate
    - Extremely cheap on stock options (don't expect to make money from stocks)

    Disorganized
    - Higher execs don't know what they want
    - Product Managers are untechical
    - Frequent reorgs (happened just about every quarter in 2014)

    Poor execution
    - More face time than actual delivery
    - Approved projects getting no support
    - Communication between teams not effective

    Unfairness
    - Managers and higher execs exhibit favoritism
    - Tremendous amounts of politics required for projects to be approved
    - Upper execs blame employees
    - Little reward for hard work

    Talent
    - Low hiring bar (for those who want better engineering experience)
    - People practice more politics than actual work and team members backstab each other

    Identity
    - Identity crisis
    - Lack of focus

    Advice to Management

Lots of work ahead but still possible to have a good exit. May need to treat employees better in order of keep talent. Recommended to promote fair work culture and fight favoritism.

    Pros

Company takes care of its employees and provides opportunity to learn a ton about the industry
Company lunches and outings are always very fun
Beautiful new office and culture is great

    Cons

Day to day work can get very monotonous and you can feel like you "plateaued" after about a year
Company seems to be promoting from within in order to retain long-time employees

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! However, try to create a more hierarchical structure in the company in order to promote leadership and continue driving individual growth.

    Pros

After coming from a for-profit startup where everyone acted like they were curing cancer for a living, Chartboost was a breath of fresh air – we're proud of our products and passionate about our customers, but the culture is pretty free from the frantic, phony intensity that infects a lot of young tech companies. I think this comes straight from the top, with the C-level folks being smart and driven but also casual, approachable, and unpretentious.

Managers give their reports a nice amount of flexibility in shaping their roles – there are core job responsibilities, of course, but I've been so lucky in being able to put forward ideas about how to do my job better and help improve the team I work on, with those ideas received with respect and serious consideration.

I was also blown away by how willing the company is to let smart people try new things, with even a few cases of transfers into engineering roles and guidance/mentorship afterward.

    Cons

Matching 401K would be nice, could be prohibitively expensive, though. Same with daily lunches, but I can't complain too much as we get lunch once a week and dinner every day.

    Advice to Management

Keep sharing as much as you do about the challenges we face, what we do well and what could be better. It helps me do my job better when I know what the big picture looks like.
