I worked at Charter Communications full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Commission checks, employee benefits on site and insurance benefits, many different set schedules to fit around school, lots of opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Once let go, you can never work for the company again! I was let go for "occurrences/missing work/tardiness." After sending my to the E.R. which resulted in my having to take time off, my supervisor fired me for not being at work although I had medical excuses. No one in Human resources would give me the time of day to explain what happened and to prove myself, therefore I became a Human Resources Recruiter/ Coordinator at a different company so that I could ensure their employees were treated respectfully and fairly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not fire your employees because they will not date you!

I worked at Charter Communications as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The people in the NOC, where I worked, were all professional and great people to work with. The job was rewarding because I helped improve the process as well as did the IOS upgrade and Qos build and install of their customer premise switches.

    Cons

The company's lack of engineers at the Louisville Data Center.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to upgrade some of the folks in the NOC to engineer status and pay because they are CCNA certified and deserve it due to their jobs.

I worked at Charter Communications full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits offered are among some of the best in the area. Upon being offered a front-line position, multiple schedules are available.

    Cons

There is no clear direction or communication from executive leadership. Each member of management seems to be focused on his or her own agenda and directing the blame for failed objectives to the next level below them. Reward and recognition are no longer based upon performance or merit, but are instead reserved for a handful of individuals who have curried the favor of their superiors by sabotaging the work of their peers by any number of unethical means.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example; reward good performance instead of playing favorites; set specific goals and objectives that are specific, attainable, and measurable

    Pros

Pay check and references. That's about it. I mean it's indoors but it's not rocket science.

    Cons

Call center hell. You can only upselling and trouble shoot. There is no winning. You can't fix issues. You get yelled at a lot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide what you want phone agents to do and stivk with it.

I worked at Charter Communications full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Ok pay if you want to work overtime and don't mind being yelled at all day this is your place.

    Cons

Constantly forcing people to change their shifts, being yelled at by people for first world problems, Charters service is absolutely terrible and that is why there are so many complaint calls. The contractors do not care about the customers and then the customer calls in and yells at you. There are constant outages that upset people and charter doesn't seem to care as long as they are making a profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Senior reps and Supervisors that I had were great but upper management and HR sucks.

    Pros

It is a pretty good place to work, the environment is always changing to keep up with what is going on in the technology field. It is a good place to get your career started.

    Cons

It is a call center so be prepared to embrace everything that goes along with the call center atmosphere. Everyone is over weight because all they do is eat and sit down on the phones all day.
