    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers needs to take better notes of capabilities of some employees and should force them to stay in a position when they're capable of much more

I worked at Cheesecake Factory part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Multiple lateral advancement opportunities
    Travel opportunities
    Marketable skills
    Flexible Schedule
Guaranteed back to back days off (Mgmnt)
    Incentive plans
    Compensation is competative

    Cons

Limited Mgmnt growth for females with children
High turn over for management staff
Utilizes personality assessments/profiling for hiring decisions
Reliance on Mystery Shopper reports, which can terminate employment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are your greatest resource and therefore, I would suggest that managers consistently find ways to identify and harnass the skills their employees have and assign additional roles and responsibilities in an effort to develop them within the organization and promote accordingly. Managers should receive quarterly reviews from randomly selected workgroup designated trainers, as an objective tool for improvement.

I have been working at Cheesecake Factory full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Insurance at 25 hrs
    Tip out
Decent tips from higher check amounts
Lots of experience in high volume and mixology

    Cons

    Horrible hourly compensation
Have to personally hunt people for tip out, managers won't handle it themselves
Several hours of bar prep at $2.13
    Extensive amounts of prep
Did I mention how much prep we do? Yeah, not worth the pay...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better hourly compensation for bar staff!!! It's stupid we have been given more prep to do that the BOH used to do for us but we still only get paid $2.13 an hour 2-3 hours before we even open! It's just not right!

I have been working at Cheesecake Factory part-time

    Pros

    money is decent
    co-workers become friends
    fast paced

    Cons

continuously short staffed (esp. in bakery)-managers seem to only worry about cutting back labor to get their bonus, even if this means making the guests wait and letting them see messy/unorganized work area

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When guests are waiting for a table, they mainly stand in the lobby and watch the bakery. Thus, why not emphasize the excellence that can be by stressing the importance of having the proper amount of staff to create the best representation of the restaurant. After 6+ years, I have witnessed many many lost opportunities of sales when guests walk in to get something to go, but walk out (with a look of disgust) before they make a purchase simply because the line is too long or they are put off by the chaos going on behind the case due to being understaffed. Cutting back too much on labor=lost sales/unsatisfied guests/frustrated employees

    Overall good environment

I have been working at Cheesecake Factory

    Pros

The company tries to offer a lot of incentives like outings and cash rewards for great work. Benefits are pretty good if you have enough hours to qualify.

    Cons

Mostly the location I work isn't managed well. Management panics under pressure and is almost hostile at times. Other ccf seem to have better organization and flow. The company as a whole also writes you up for every little petty thing. I'd never had a write up until working here

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tone of voice goes a long way. Being irritated and acting put out is unprofessional. Cracking under pressure is unprofessional. You're there to help us and ensure guest satisfaction. We all get overwhelmed but smile anyway, say please and thank you anyway.
