When something goes wrong, somebody will take the fall - and it might not be the person that screwed up.

I worked at Chemical Lime full-time for less than a year

ProsThey feed employees well - lots of catered lunches. Most employees are friendly and helpful. Favorable competitive position in industry.

ConsLaggard in technology implementation, Executive Leadership Team can't agree on much. Belgian parents control the company tightly, and often make it difficult to be agile in the market. Plants are dusty and messy - you don't want to drive your own vehicle to them. High turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeadership is much more effective when you can be trusted and respected.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Prosnone, there is nothing worthy of your time or loyalty at this company. The CEO is an oaf from Belgium who will insult you and break every HR rule in the book like talking about age and weight in your interview and beyond. He does not care about anyone but himself and his own agenda. And to top it off, he can't make a decision to save his life.

Conshorribly oppressive European leadership that know nothing about American culture or values.

Interesting experience if you like chasing your tail.

Production Manager (Current Employee)
Birmingham, AL

I have been working at Chemical Lime

ProsThe pay and benefits are great! The organization tried to include the plant team in major corporate inititatives.

ConsLong work hours. Inefficient use of capital and maintenance dollars driving down plant operability.

Advice to Senior ManagementStrive for plant reliability and understand your operation. If the plants are running, employees are happy and money is being made for the company.

A lot of EmployeeTurn over

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Chemical Lime full-time for more than 5 years

ProsCompetitive salary, follow employees nice to work with. Many varied locations

ConsToo much internal change, rolling out new internal applications without fully testing. Too much CYA. Most on management seems to be overly concerned with protecting their area as opposed to benefiting the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease communicate and get employees to buy into proposed changes before forcing them down their throats.
