Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the middle managers as well as the regular joes!
Pros
They pay well to get resources in the door if all you want is a good paycheck. Some functional areas are flexible with attendance.
Cons
Absolutely no growth or development. Very political. Do not follow through on promises. Employees are treated very poorly if they do not follow the pack.
Advice to Senior Management
Management does not want creative, forward thinking leadership. They just want good loyal followers. Need to embrace change.
Pros
Chemtura is very good in flexible working hours and balancing work/personal life situations. Management is not rigid, friendly good people, lots of promise exist within the business and if you are lucky you may have a very nice manager.
Cons
Filed CH-11, poor management and divestitures, lot of ups and downs since merger of GLCC and Crompton. Extremely poor salary, no bonus, no good practice to recognize people's performance, no reward for projects, no career progression possibility exists....
Advice to Senior Management
Review available compensations in the market for similar jobs, need to learn to think internationally and not only Middlebury, CT based. Top management never seem to care about lower level employees.
Pros
Allowed to work on different problems
Management willing to listen to employees
Get to visit exotic locations like El Dorado
Cons
Company poorly run by top executives
Forced to file chapter 11
Future not very secure for employees
Bad food in the cafe
Advice to Senior Management
Drop the dead weight from middle management
Look in the mirror when company does not meet expectations and stop making excuses
Pros
Pay. No rotating hours. Weekend work only on mandatory overtime
Cons
Strict, disciplined work environment. Support issues could be handled better. Difficult to manage work and family life.
Advice to Senior Management
More support and understanding for non-management employees.
Pros
Many good, smart people work at Chemtura. Unfortunately, the nature of the company's products, the bad economy and the inept leadership at all levels have led the company to Chapter 11. The company has gone through layoff after layoff to no avail, resulting in the departure of many good, hard-working people.
Cons
Lack of success, poor morale.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people with more dignity and respect.
Pros
A great chance for Worldwide Organization Experience. Middlebury centric but worldwide locations.
Cons
Change is constant. You are either in or out. In the last few years most people have moved on.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide a stable work environment for the employees. Constant change is high stress.
Pros
Its management tries to get everyone to work together
Cons
Chemical Industry has many ups and downs due to energy costs and supply management controls
Advice to Senior Management
Stay with the solid leadership and business growth, its is the only way to move the company forward.
Pros
The employees are good team players and overall good people.
Cons
Little opportunity for job growth and very little communication between management and employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate more with employees, listen to what they are telling you, respect your employees, and reward their efforts.
