I have been working at Chemtura full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

New senior management in 2011 has made us profitable again. It feels like we are winners after a multi-year losing streak. Opportunities for advancement are reappearing. Non-contributors are being removed or leaving on their own. Management decisions are being made and actions taken after years of paralysis.

    Cons

Top business managers are tough, sometimes too tough. We don't always understand what their motives are, but we are coming to trust their judgment based on the results. We are short staffed and corporate support roles in finance, legal and HR let us down too often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not lose your courage. It will take a few more years to solve the problems created by the years of mismanagement leading to our 2009 bankruptcy. Use a few more carrots to go along with the sticks.

I have been working at Chemtura full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good prospects for promotions and transferring within departments.

    Cons

Too many middle managers, lack of talent and intelligence in the management pool, lack of encouraging workers to move ahead on the part of management. No telecommuting opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees more opportunities to grow and expand in their areas of interest and ability. Allow for and develop telecommuting opportunities for all employees.

I worked at Chemtura full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice temp workers, very quiet, most won't get hired, won't pass a background check.

    Cons

No money to spend on what it would, take to make the air better, will spend it on small improvements.
The clicques have it made, keep your mouth shut, they don't want to improve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put some money in the place, visit it unannounced if you care. Quit putting money in the local OSHA's palm, they have to be on the take, it will bite you one day. Hey OSHA, pay a unannouced visit once in a while, if you care.

    I worked at Chemtura

    Pros

Many good, smart people work at Chemtura. Unfortunately, the nature of the company's products, the bad economy and the inept leadership at all levels have led the company to Chapter 11. The company has gone through layoff after layoff to no avail, resulting in the departure of many good, hard-working people.

    Cons

    Lack of success, poor morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat people with more dignity and respect.

    Pros

A great chance for Worldwide Organization Experience. Middlebury centric but worldwide locations.

    Cons

Change is constant. You are either in or out. In the last few years most people have moved on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide a stable work environment for the employees. Constant change is high stress.
