Worked as a sub in the school kitchens.

Kitchen Substitute Worker (Former Employee) Aurora, CO

ProsCould work when I wanted and not work if I didn't want to or had previous engagements.

ConsVery hard, physical job. Kitchens are on a skeleton crew. Many kitchens now have the kitchen crew performing custodial duties in the kitchens before they leave for the day.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive the kitchens the staffing they need! This way everyone can perform their job and feel decent when they leave in the afternoon.

    Great career

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThey have been very flexible with schedules and have let me learn and grow over the years.

ConsPay, the pay is below average for classified positions. Licensed staff is compensated well.

Advice to Senior ManagementReview compensation and benefits for classified positions.

    An excellent place to work.

Math Teacher (Former Employee) Centennial, CO

ProsSchools are site based rather than district admin based. District is committed to cutting edge education and keeping class sizes low. Excellent job working with tight budgets in a state that does not put much money into education.

ConsLike any school, pay is not great.

Good schools are good, bad schools are terrible

Special Education (Former Employee) Aurora, CO

ProsGrowing district with deep pockets of money.
There are some terrific schools with great teachers and administration.

    ConsPublic Education stress and difficulties.
Parental money means parental control and coddling.
Grade padding is highly encouraged, I consider this a problem.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet to know your principals and what happens when you are not looking.

    Great Place To Work

Teacher, High School (Current Employee) Aurora, CO

    ProsAdequate time off for planning.
Great people to work with in terms of colleagues.
    Summers off
They will accomodate almost any professional development training you would like to attend.
    They have great test scores.
They are experiencing success with closing the achievement gap.
They are committed to excellence in terms of preparing all kids for college.
There are many resources, despite enormous budget cuts to public education.

ConsAdministration will jump on ANY academic bandwagon that knocks on the door - they are on board with "school reform" to the point where they are obsessive about it.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat EOPs and support staff with dignity and respect and assume that your teachers are wonderful people who are truly committed to completing a life's mission of educating children - not people who arrive to work with the sole intent of completing as work little as possible to make it through the day and go unnoticed. I would say 95% of us aren't like that.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
