    Pros

The first day I started at Independence elementary I felt so welcome. I love being on the SpEd team. It is one of the largest resources in Cherry Creek for special needs kids. Supervisors are quick to let you know when you're doing well and understand family needs.

    Cons

    None, I love it here.

  2. Students treated well, staff not so much.

I have been working at Cherry Creek Schools part-time

    Pros

Lots of fun opportunity for learning and socialization for the students in the PreK department.

    Cons

Staff in PreK doesn't seem valued by management or elementary schools in which they are housed. Large turn over of assistant teachers caused by several factors, one of which is the fact that there is no discernible reason why some assistants are paid more than others. Not a lot of helpful support to new teachers but plenty of criticism and deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Less large meetings and redundant training and more individual support for staff. Supervisors need to be in classrooms before they make decisions on staffing. Employees should be treated fairly as far as salary. I heard much grumbling about the money made by teacher's assistants, rightly so.

I worked at Cherry Creek Schools (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great staff development opportunities, great pay compared to other school districts, lots of opportunity for advancement if you play by the rules.

    Cons

It's a really big school district, with lots of bureaucracy.

    Advice to Management

I would stop doing the peer evaluations- no one takes them seriously.

  6. Para Educator

    Pros

Hours are great. You work when school is in session only.

    Cons

As a Para Educator you don't have any benefits.

I have been working at Cherry Creek Schools full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Vision and expectations are high.

    Cons

Overworking employees with little to no compensation. Not allowing for enough time to learn new techniques before another one is added.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs more training in communication - tone and status awareness in stressful situations. Not adding to already full plates until necessary.

I have been working at Cherry Creek Schools full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great teaming experience between specialists, teachers, and assistance. Good work schedule

    Cons

Hourly pay, no benefits, not paid year round, paid once a month, state requires 15 hours continuing education credits but they require some ridiculous training-like watching a promo for a private company- during your scheduled plan time.

    Advice to Management

Start treating and paying your ECE Teachers like the great Teachers they are. Less trainings, 40 hours paid time, benefits. Its the only district that works this way.

I have been working at Cherry Creek Schools full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Effective, responsive administration; excellent Human Resources; district-wide commitment to effective, responsive practices both in building, and at the district level; excellent colleagues with a professional mindset; opportunities to grow within district.

    Cons

Long hours and overlapping commitments; limited plan time because of excessive, often irrelevant meetings.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to restore full planning time to teachers; increase teacher choice and differentiation of professional development opportunities.
