    I worked at Chevron

    Pros

I worked in many rewarding and interesting jobs within the company.

    Cons

Like any company, big or small, my experiences were better when I worked with a wonderful supervisor.

I have been working at Chevron full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay and 9/80 schedule. Great Benefits and perks.

    Cons

Management is not accountable for their actions. Supervisors and Managers are usually on the global mobile list and only stay in one place for 2 years. The mistakes they make in two years, other have to be responsible for it. Must be willing to relocate every two years to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold Managers and supervisors accountable for their mistakes. First and second line leadership positions are usually given to development or high potential employees not the experienced employees that know how the business is run.

    I worked at Chevron

    Pros

Hated working there and hated the people I worked with. Location also sucked. Life there was hell on earth. Never got better.

    Cons

Crazy hours working there. No time to get all work done. Crazy expectations, no growth for me, didn't learn much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it together. Say thank you fly once. Term working with the team instead if criticizing others work. Do consider doing some actual workfor a change.

I have been working at Chevron

    Pros

From my perspective, the benefits of working at Chevron include the job assignment process, internal opportunities, pay and benefits, international assignment opportunities, 9 / 80 schedule, career development, training.

    Cons

From my perspective, the downside of working at Chevron include the corporate bureaucracy of such a large company, travel required to remote locations, some jobs require 100% travel, exposure to cyclical industry environment

I have been working at Chevron

    Pros

Comprehensive and good benefits (e.g. pension and 4:1 401(k) match). Interesting work, opportunity to make a difference when you take the initiative. A strong culture of doing the right thing and taking care of people.

    Cons

Sometimes the org gets myopic, heavily discounting the value of experiences and methods used outside of its own boundaries or the oil and gas industry. Too risk adverse in areas where failure is not catastrophic. In resource extraction, transportation, and refining (how we make money) you can't afford one mistake. But in performance management, project management, planning methodology, etc., there is a lot that can be learned from others.

I have been working at Chevron

    Pros

    -Flexible work schedules (9/80)
    -401K match (up to 8%)
    -Pension
    -Focus on safety
    -Opportunities to switch groups

    Cons

-No mention of diversity nor is there any especially at the San Ramon office. Leadership roles are mostly filled by White Men who are given the majority of the opportunities
-Bureaucratic/Red tape: Sometimes this company feels like a Government as things move really slow here due to the many processes
-Politics but I guess that is common in most companies
-Focus on hiring early career employees (borderline age discrimination)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on diversity and eliminate the red tape
