    Pros

good support and competitive compensation. Chicago Apartment Finders goes out of its way to teach and train their employees all aspects of the real estate business.

    Cons

Like other real estate companies. Chicago Apartment Finders does not provide benefits like insurance, car allowances, or salaries. It is 100% commission based salary

    Pros

Easy to be hired on as a leasing agent or broker. Great place to start learning about sales and about real estate.

    Cons

Compensation is commission only. The better the agent, the more freedom and power you have in the company. There is definite favoritism for certain agents by management due to seniority or because of closing percentage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in your company and in your employees.

I worked at Chicago Apartment Finders part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Great real world experience
A great deal of employee centered training
Autonomy in job related appointments and duties

    Cons

Employer required licensing (this will be paid by the intern and is not addressed up front) My fees totaled $500+
    Poor communication amongst departments
    Unqualified client base
    Low commission
No base pay or transportation stipend
    Long hours
    Scheduled office time
    Heavy workload
    High stress levels
A great deal of competition with little collaboration

    In summation:

Fire the closing department. As a part time agent nearly 1/3 of my deals fell through due to miscommunications within the closing department. This means that as an agent, after driving clients to up to 6 showings and negotiating a deal sometimes taking multiple days I received absolutely no compensation. While the culture and atmosphere of this employer fit the youthful and extroverted employee base they so often attract the heavy work load and high stress levels contradict the fun care free atmosphere. Pay is 100% commissions based and the program is short so employees are expected to learn very quickly if they hope to make any money.
My advice to any potential employee is to start as soon as possible. The extra time on the job will give you an advantage over your peers with a later start date. You will develop a number of important personal and professional skills in this role that will aid you in future employment.
If you work well under stress, tolerate hours that often extend beyond the schedule, and pay is not of importance this internship is a great learning experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees. Each sale generates 25% leasing agent revenue, and at most 15% listing agent revenue. That means that the two parties solely responsible for attracting clients and making the sale get paid at most slightly more than half of what the company nets on every $1,000 earned. ($250+$150= $350 compared to $650 pocketed by management). This is all assuming the client doesn't back out or fall through, in which case management will back draw any payment made to a sales rep potentially leaving you in the hole.

    Pros

Good coworkers, met new people, fun day to day work

    Cons

Horrible properties, disorganization, major technical issues and no one qualified to fix them, Ridiculous mentor program where you give 20% of your earnings to someone that doesn't help you much, you use your car, your computer, expected to attend pointless meetings and trainings on your time for no pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The CAF owned properties are trash. . Training is non existent. No one cares how good a member of upper management was at sales. People conducting real estate sales trainings should probably have a real estate license, it's something you make everyone else have, stop being hypocrites. Paying for CAR is a rip off that doesn't offer anything except ANOTHER expense. You ask too much of new employees by having them pay for so much and do not offer a good enough opportunity to earn. It seems as if decisions are made on a whim and not thought out as far as employee policies go. The mentor program is a joke and needs to end. People can't afford to work there. Turnover will continue to rise. Working at CAF makes you poor. No way anyone can work there with a family. Hence the majority of people in sales there live at home or have multiple roommates because they are fresh out of college.

    Pros

Makes it easy to get used to the business of leasing but not sales.

    Cons

Wouldn't work here more than 6 months because they offer very low commission and make you be on a schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop changing 'policies' every other day and offer more flexibility to your senior agents.

    Pros

Excellent Leasing Agents and Brokers top work with, very helpful managers and other agents, good commission pay, a lot of listings that everyone gets a chance to make good money. This company loves to have fun and always throw parties for employees and family and friends. Not only is it a fun company to work at, you can also pick your schedule which is convenient for you to work around. That leave you time for school, family or other employment.

    Cons

Some of the other agents can be sneaky or jealous that you may do more Listing or Rental Applications, but what job doesn't have those kind of people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think that the company should expand to the surrounding suburbs.
