    Pros

You are teamed up with a department and are able to learn the ins and outs. The people at the CBOE are amazing and helpful. Great experience in the Financial Industry

    Cons

No cons. You also take classes through the options institute which can be challenging at times but you learn a lot and earn a certificate.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

    Pros

Predictable hours aside from pager duty. If you are pursuing an evening higher educational degree, this is a great place to work. The culture respects employees and offers tuition reimbursement with some restrictions.

    Cons

There are no opportunities to telecommute. You have to be at the office every day. Moreover, it does not offer many promising career growth paths.

    Advice to Management

Need to provide more opportunities for promotion from within.

    Pros

Great people work there. Everyone relaxed and chill. 40% foreign work staff.

    Cons

No music in bathroom and can hear every noise made. Do not go to bathroom around lunch hours.

    Advice to Management

Play music in bathroom to drown out noises.

    Pros

A solid company with an inordinate number of friendly and competent people. For such a large organization, CBOE is able to keep all employees "rowing" the same way.

    Cons

Very few downsides. Those few individuals who had their own agenda usually get weeded out.

depending on team, could be working on really interesting problems with bleeding edge technology
    politics are minimal
    people are generally nice

    Cons

    production support can be bad
depending on team, could be using really outdated technology

    Pros

Challenging work, teamwork essential, good money and benefits, and a variety of work projects. Production support can be stressful but is only about 25% of your job. Results-based management style, very technically strong management (no pointy-haired bosses here!).

    Cons

There is only one promotion ladder, so the best programmers eventually end up being managers, directors, or VPs, unless you don't want a raise. Permanent positions are being eliminated and replaced by offshore (and onshore) outsourcing and contractors.

    Advice to Management

You are very weak on advanced technology training. Teach me JDK 8, Python, or open-source projects that will eventually make our development cycle, QA installation procedures, and ultimately our trading systems more efficient.

    Good work-life balance

Co-workers are committed to building a great franchise

    Cons

Very political. Never sure if you have angered the wrong person, and hearing about it coming back on your review.
