    Pros

My experience is in sales. If you are willing to work hard, this company is willing to reward you. Excellent incentives and a positive environment for learning B2B sales.

    Cons

This field in general has been referred to by many in this field as a 'hard sale'. However if you can sell copiers, etc., it is also said that you can sell anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep moving the direction you are. Since January 2014 there have been many steps in the right direction for building clear career paths and eliminating some of the past negative feedback shown on this website.

Great for out-of-college technical experience, not for a lasting career.

    Pros

A lot of great co-workers, hard work is sometimes rewarded, and work-life balance was great. The scope of the job introduces you to a lot of different companies and experience opportunities, outside of COTG. Training is varied depending on the instructor, but overall good.

    Cons

Management is decent to awful (and too plentiful). Outside of 2-3 exceptions, you either have a supervisor/manager who is "cool" but doesn't know what they're doing (usually a former technician), or a tiger who expects far too much with the resources given and can never be pleased. Bonus program is also broken, where the bell-curve techs are rewarded more than those who fix machines right instead of duct taping them to save $$$ and better the management bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the technician do their job with a little trust. The customers I supported are not stupid, and will inform the company when they are dissatisfied. Never, ever....ever tell someone they are going to be moved up, have them train their replacement, and then shove them aside in a parallel, raise-less position when the promotion day comes.

    Pros

Liked my team. Fun environment because we made it fun

    Cons

HORRIBLE management. Was let go when in their own handbook says I did NOT do anything wrong. Rude and only in it for themselves

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pull your head out of your butt and don't fire EXCELLENT employees for doing the same thing on their lunch break that you do!! :)

    Turnover is rampant in sales

    Pros

Good place to earn a lot of money for little to no experience if you are willing to find all new business.

    Cons

Comp plan has been adjusted and is not as lucrative to sales reps as it once was. It has leveled the playing field for bonuses and incentives and is no longer performance based. Promotions rarely happen internally and instead candidates are brought in constantly from the outside and paid a premium.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Step up the training so sales reps come out ready to sell and managers aren't having to rely on tenured reps to teach their new people.

    Pros

Great benefits, 401k matching, and vacation time. Also a lot of valuable resources to help you succeed and resolve customer issues.

    Cons

Too many supervisors and managers causes confusion to who you should direct issues to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and their ideas.

    Pros

Great sales force, rapidly growing company, have raised their starting base salaries in recent years, great incentive trips, New President seems to have a long term plan for success

    Cons

There is too much favoritism in who gets what accounts and and a lack of assistance from management in funnel growing and deal working, No training staff to speak of and the service for the products you support is terrible. No room to grow, all employee advancement opportunities are filled from the outside. Last year had a turnover rate of 50% and seems to almost be the industry standard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop rehashing the same people in different management roles as its clearly not working. Don't allow upper management to work completely unaccountable. Have realistic expectations and goals, instead of inflated benchmarks that no one really achieves.

Horrible certain bosses only care about what you do!

    Pros

If your a pretty money in a suit with a degree you can be hired for a manager straight in. Other then that no other pros.

    Cons

The whole company is a con, they don't not care about the employee or their family only work work work. Does not care about anything else. Been told the company spent thousands to make sure they did not go union because they don't want to pay there employees what they deserve

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire all management and start over

    Pros

Great training program gives you a inside look @ outside sales

    Cons

As in any organization they play favorites... Commission structure is great when you actually get it. It usually takes over a month to get your commissions but it isn't bad. They don't let you know when you take hits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Growth opportunities are slim. Listen to your employees and you will reduce the turnover

    Pros

Good entry level B2B sales experience gained. Quota is reasonable and incentives are good if you are able to reach quota. Having xerox on your resume is enticing to other employers.

    Cons

High turnover rate. Let's face it, you're selling copiers, how could it be that great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont expect sales trainers who have failed at sales to be effective "developers." Stop micro managing and let reps run their business. The bad reps will quit on their own, stop pushing your good reps to quit as well.
