    Pros

Good employer, wonderful opportunities for learning and growth and many different daily conferences/meetings about other research happening besides your own.

    Cons

Per diem employees are not eligible for 1/2 off T-pass while full time and part time employees are. I worked 40+ hours a week as a per diem employee and did not receive this benefit.

    Pros

Worked with many very intelligent providers caring for children with complex cases from around the world. Great tuition reimbursement program.

    Cons

Too much focus on ratings and competition sometimes resulting in lower quality of care.

    Advice to Management

Pay raises should be based more on quality of work rather than just job title.

I have been working at Children's Hospital Boston full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and a lot of classes for free to take advantage of.

    Cons

Very tight rules and regulations, and can be difficult to work with the doctors who tend to maintain a clear power distance between themselves and employees who are not Ivy League graduates.

    Advice to Management

Should try to reduce the power gap between the PIs and the employees. Also should allow for some flexibility with personal needs of employees.

    Pros

The brand is a resume builder The mission is wonderful and the hospital really helps children Some coworkers are very talented and dedicated You will learn skills that will serve you in the future Some of the senior leaders are among the best I've seen

    Cons

You will most likely learn by fire under really difficult stressful circumstances Fear and gossip, poor collaboration, disrespectful behavior are common There are some very strong leaders, some very weak leaders, and accountability is inconsistent It is very very common to be overworked and under-resourced so unless you are doing your life's work, you will burn out

    Advice to Management

I don't have answers or solutions, except to start being really honest about the issues and courageous enough to do something about them.

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for advancement and role changes within the social work department. You receive a small annual salary raise with each yearly evaluation and also lots of professional education opportunities.

    Cons

Difficult and expensive parking situation in Longwood area. Very expensive benefits if you are a part-time employee.

    Advice to Management

Offer lower cost benefit options for part time employees.
