    Pros

    Great people, doing great work

    Cons

As in most big organization, there is lots of red tape from time to time and as a recruiter there really is not a lot of growth opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Just stay on the missions of CHP.

  2. Fantastic administrative position which enabled me to help children and adolescents in the field of behavioral health.

    Pros

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) encourages employees to further his or her education, promotes within, while hiring outside the organization as well.

    Cons

Helping children and adolescents in an administrative capacity in the field of behavioral health motivated me to continue my education in psychology. Thus, my employment at UPMC is viewed as positive!

    Advice to Management

UPMC provided me with an excellent employment opportunity by hiring an individual with little psychological background to assist and learn from highly educated individuals with brilliant psychiatric minds. My advice to management is although we are in a highly competitive job market -continue to interview and appropriately hire the best person for the position, despite his or her level of education (if applicable only).

    Pros

The great thing about CHP is their focus on the patients and their families and truly coming up with a cohesive plan of care.

    Cons

The Con of this can be that it drives the patients care and not necessarily in the right direction. It can interfere with what is actually the best plan of care and cause elevated tension.

    Pros

Loved the families and patients, the staff can be wonderful when they have a good strong leader. You will learn tons of things there. The facility is gorgeous and very kid friendly. I worked there for 6 yrs and saw many changes and got to see beautiful growth with the kids. Nice perk is your savings plan and cash plan they match you up to 6%. The kids become part of you and you love to see them grow and overcome obstacles and sometimes you see death and that can be hard to deal with but there is a good support system there for families and staff with that.

    Cons

They promote management from non-management jobs and basically they have NO idea what they are doing. Now that Press Ganey scores matter to Hospitals it is going all down hill. They don;t care about the workers, if you get hurt or are over worked. They write you up for things that don't even happen if they perceive you to be a threat to management no matter how much you are liked by the staff and families. You are penalized for taking time off unless you have FMLA. The benefits of working there are great if you love kids, but mind you if you can;t deal with parents who are being protective of their children it is not for you! The insurance they provide is costly, but you can get Alflac. IT does take a LONG time for HR to hire you due to all the background checks and clearances.

    Advice to Management

Get the management trained and have them back the staff. The people who genuinely care get trampled on and unless you are a Nurse they could care less cause they will just hire another person.
