    Pros

Each department is different, but many are supportive of work-life balance, and have a positive approach to professional development.
The large organization is capable of doing big things in the community and for families.
Family centered care is a huge focus, and interactions with families and patients can be incredible.

    Cons

The leadership can seem disconnected at times from the daily work of employees. Hospitals are hierarchical settings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus more on collaborative leadership

I worked at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota

    Pros

Mission focused on the health of children and family. Competitive pay and benefits. Reputation and Philanthropic support within the community. Commitment to excellence in care.

    Cons

Work-life balance, lack of communication of vision/strategy, union leadership, leadership accountability. Managers allowed to do what they want rather than follow policies and processes. Leadership says they want to change the culture, but not willing to change themselves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Alignment of strategy, goals and objectives. If people are important, what is the strategy the organization is committed to and how are leaders held accountable?

I have been working at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Registered Nurses are offered great benefits thanks to our union contract! Staff RNs, CSAs, house keeping and volunteers contribute so much to the work environment, which makes it a positive place to be!

    Cons

Management has made it difficult to balance work/life commitments due to limited approved vacation hours and primarily offering only 12 hour shifts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to the needs of your employees in order to provide the best patient care possible. Burn out can be avoided by championing the notion that it is important to balance work/life commitments and to support that effort.

    Pros

is great to work with kids, they have good pay and benefit

    Cons

very disrespectful management and HR will always be on the management side so no need to voice your concern you will end up been abused by your immediate boss if you say anything. If you are person with color good luck working for childrens. You will see the most unfair injustice done to you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good hospital bad managers

I have been working at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota

    Pros

Extremely rewarding and meaningful work! I love working with patients and families. People here truly want to make a good experience for every child.

    Cons

Benefit package in particular the health insurance coverage is lacking, especially working for a hospital! Disconnect between management and subordinates. Management could use some training on "How to be a good leader and manager." While we work hard, managers take long lunches and leave before they have even worked 8 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work for the money you are getting paid.
