I worked at Children's Medical Center of Dallas full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The kids really do come first.

    Cons

Although I was relieved of my duties from Children's after 13yrs, there is not another hospital I would take my grandson to if he was seriously injured or sick,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel that your current budget recovery and restructuring of management should start at the VP level on up. I think the outrages bonuses on a job you are paid to do is a little out there. I also feel CMCD is very top heavy in the VP area.

I worked at Children's Medical Center of Dallas part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most staff seem genuinely interested in working with patients and their families.

    Cons

As with most other large corporations, LOTS of politics abound at this workplace. Getting a job depends in very large part on who you know and who you don't know. Fraternizing happens on a regular basis and those with social ties to Administrative officials end up getting good deals on hours worked and schedule flexibility. Not uncommon, but definitely frustrating. Keep in mind that this is also a teaching hospital which means that your physician may change in a few weeks or a few days depending on how far along he/she is in his residency/fellowship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop rewarding employees who shirk their duties to socialize while at work!

I worked at Children's Medical Center of Dallas

    Pros

Most of my coworkers were very friendly. The management was supportive and encouraging. Community was encouraged highly. The standards were high. I learned a lot working there.

    Cons

I had some safety concerns. The place was not as clean as other hospitals I have worked at. Many of my coworkers did not appreciate their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep listening to employees. Think about the big picture, not just the bottom line. Everything can not be summed up by statistics.
