Good Place to Work!

Research Assistant (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles part-time for less than a year

ProsVery challenging environment since I work in a lab. I also got to meet a lot of people outside my lab personnel. Working in a hospital brings you closer to patients and gives you the drive to work harder

ConsSince I am part of the lab requests by the lab are not processed too soon which is understnadable since it is a hospital

Advice to Senior ManagementGreat Work! Keep it Up!

I worked at CHLA full-time

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI believe the care provided to children is excellent, however, some departments do not respond promptly to appointment requests. Many employees are friendly, good people.

ConsSalaries are comparatively low and receiving even a cost of living raise is totally dependent on whether an employee's supervisor bothers to do a review. Some high level executives treat their staff very badly and favoritism is rampant in many departments.

Advice to Senior ManagementA great deal of hospital funds are spent on a myriad of consultants, but the culture at CHLA remains the same. A total waste of money.

Low morale, competency and support. Mediocre pay. Lots of politics.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSome good colleagues and networking

ConsLow support from administration. Slow to act. The company would rather keep what's familiar than go with what's better. Politics is key here. People prove to be incompetent but still somehow keep their jobs. Have witnessed far more skilled employees leave due to lesser skilled employees being promoted or continuing without any recourse. Little sincere recognition.

Advice to Senior ManagementReview departments and teams regularly. Accountability is key.

An employer with a worthy mission, but not without its share of turbulent turnovers.

Researcher (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles full-time for more than 10 years

ProsOwing to its relatively large work force, the hospital has reasonably good infrastructure. The Human Resources Department is well structured and functional.

ConsFor most employees, the retirement "program" consists of only 3% matching of 401k contributions. Some departments are commonly though to be stingy regarding salaries, sometimes going years without cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) to match inflation.
