Pros
I love working at Chilis because the restaraunt biz is in my blood. Theres never a dull or boring day, great food and great people.
Cons
Consistancy in every day operations, from cleanliness to saftey precautions.
Advice to Senior Management
If there are any obstacles in your restaraunt, recognize the and get your whole managment team on the same page to fix these certain issues.
Pros
It is a good place to work to make decent tips and the staff is wonderful as well, overall i enjoy it.
Cons
There is a lot of sidework and people tend to get stressed out. You can walk out with nothing or a lot.
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership is good if anything just do more meetings and help give new server's feedback so they can improve faster and better.
Pros
Casual work environment
Co-workers are fun to be around
Immediate cash in-hand
Employee voice and consideration
The fun and easy-going customers
Online scheduling system (hotschedules)
Cons
The not-so fun customers
Strict sales requirements when interacting with each and every table
Most people are lousy tippers
Management and employee turnover rates
Evals are rarely given unless you are being punished
No hourly raises given to server staff regardless of how long you stay there
Advice to Senior Management
Look at the levels of employee satisfaction with their given work requirements and how it impedes their ability to give fast, friendly, and effective customer service. Need to lower your expectations for good customer service or alleviate server responsibilities. Ever wonder why the turnover rates are so bad, even for a restaurant? Also, you need to reward employee loyalty and hard work with performance reviews and hourly wage increases. If you did that, you would retain more servers who find it hard to leave the nice hourly they have accumulated over their time. Wouldn't that be cheaper than constantly training new employees and dealing with the costly number of mistakes leading to "comps" in the restaurant? If it were me, I would much rather put the employees needs first, thus holding on to the experienced and driven workers who keep sales up and mistakes to a minimum. Even if it does increase my wage expenses.
Pros
Cash Tips, friendly work environment with other cohorts
Cons
Poor tippers, questionable management strategies
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your servers - they interact with guests personally and in reality - and the reality is that some guests are cant be satisfied with Chili's capabilities.
Pros
great atmosphere, great people, managers have a great work ethic
Cons
Sometimes they over staff on certain nights
Advice to Senior Management
na
Pros
Decent starting benefits for servers - limited health benefits and dining discounts
Fun work environment
Tips can be good if you work at the right location
Cons
In order to get a good section and money-making shifts, and to some extent keep your job, you have to sell a certain amount of alcoholic beverages. Drink average goals apply to lunch shifts, which can be difficult to meet for working professionals.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop trying to force people to serve liquor and beer. Focus instead on overall check averages. Provide better benefits after 90 days for full-time employees.
Pros
Flexible work schedule, mindless work, easy to carry on other obligations while working there
Cons
clientele is horrible, wages arent the best, rules change daily.
Pros
If you want a career that takes you in to the fast-beat world of the service industry, Chili's is "the place to be"! Great atmosphere new challenges everyday.
Cons
If you are a hardcore family man or women, then choose your commitments wisely. With any career, you are either in it for the long haul, or you choose the path of least destruction.
Advice to Senior Management
Great training! A continual process that does not get lost in the company's values or beliefs. Coaching and development process is key! Stay true to your own values, and don't get discouraged when they don't coincide with the company. There will still be balance.
Pros
Fun atmosphere, great people to work for and with.
Cons
Too much favoritism when it comes to trying to get promoted. You have to know the right people.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time developing managers and GM's
Pros
Great money, good friends, fun atmosphere. I look forward to going to work every day. The managers take great care of the customers and therefore the servers make great money.
Cons
Relying on the kindness and competence of your customers can be very trying at times. Very physically and mentally exhausting work.
Advice to Senior Management
Love my job! The management team is fantastic. They are always understanding and go the extra step to help out.
