    Advice to ManagementAdvice

i would love a job with benefits but some times it comes with hard work and time which i am willing to accomplish. i welcome a entry level position to proudly work my way up the the ladder.I have always landed leadership roles due to my hard work and determination. I don't consider time off policy.

I worked at Chili's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Never got denied a raise, worked around my student schedule, and genuinely cared about the employees. Good FOOD and good "team-bonding" outings!

    Cons

Stressful workplace, not enough people on busy nights, and sometimes strict on rules on when you can have food discounts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your regional/uppermost management work there on a busy Fri/Sat/Sun few times a year and personally employees what they need!

I have been working at Chili's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you're outgoing like I am, this is definitely the place to work for. This company really cares about you. The managers are always willing to help.

    Cons

Working holidays like Christmas Eve. Sometimes working in the resteraunt industry there will be days where you make more money than the day before or vice versa.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work!

    I worked at Chili's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -good pay (when busy)
    -fun people to work with
-flexible schedule and easy to ask off
-good discount on food for employees

    Cons

-Intense promotion of GEM surveys that could lead to you not being scheduled if you don't get enough
-St. Jude fundraiser in September is great but customers are absolutely bombarded. I wouldn't donate either.
    -Management plays favorites
    -Shifts can be very long

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so money hungry. I had a manager tell me they don't give discounts to soldiers in uniform because they don't have a gun. And guns can protect us if we get robbed. That's why police officers on duty get a discount.

I have been working at Chili's

    Pros

This is a great place to get started in the restaurant business. With our big menu and high volume of customers it makes for a challenging job.

    Cons

The menu is overwhelming and there are allot to remember if you are a server. You have to have thick skin to be in this business. And you have to deal with allot of things. The pressure of waiting customers and big parties can be stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get in sync with each other.

I have been working at Chili's full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunities for advancement, benefits, everyday is different, paid vacation, tuition reimbursement, good co-workers, salaried, opportunity for raises yearly, six paid sick days

    Cons

Very long hours, at least 10 hour shifts, required to work 50-55 hours weekly, always changing policies, no overtime pay when working more than required hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs more structured advancement program, management and employee training programs are very unorganized. When rolling out new food items the kinks should be better worked out before going to store level. Some policies not clear, too much leeway and guesswork when disciplining employees. Back office computers very old and slow, hindering completing your responsibilities.

    I worked at Chili's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Tips, good coworkers, easy opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

GM is terrible, the management techniques leave much to be desired. Being a national company they can't tailor it to each location so popular items get removed and unpopular aspects of the menu are heavily encouraged to be pushed on people.
