I have been working at Chili's

    Pros

Lots of training supplied for inexperienced servers.

    Cons

Seniority = a free pass to basically do whatever you want.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It wouldn't kill you to actually do something about the few "bad" apples on your staff, instead of ignoring that they are a problem because of their seniority.

I have been working at Chili's

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, delicious but inexpensive food, popular restaurant. Easy to advance if interested and hours are plentiful.

    Cons

(Shelton, CT location) Employees and managers do not act professionally. Rude comments and occasional outbursts can be heard from the kitchen. Workspace is often disorganized. Lack of respect among teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be less tolerable of disrespect among team members and set a positive example yourselves.

    I worked at Chili's

    Pros

The Franchisee is great to their employees. Christmas party for managers children, with Santa handing out gifts. Turkeys and Thanksgiving and Hams at Easter. Stable company, on going manager training modules.

    Cons

A lot of employees are new to the restaurant industry, Servers to the Managers. The fact that there is a great training, a lot leave for a fine dining of higher end concept. A lot of turn over. The Guests at this concept can be very difficult to deal with. It is hard to get a GM position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful when hiring GM's from outside the concept. When managers have to train their boss it does not foster a sense of respect.

I have been working at Chili's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Above minimum wage. Flexible hours. Hourly wage+tips.

    Cons

Very busy and hectic during peak hours. A lot of yelling in the kitchen. Multiple things to do with only one person (you) to do it at one time. Was not scheduled for a lot of hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-think scheduling. If you have too many people let some go. Don't automatically punish an employee if a customer complains.

    I worked at Chili's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Can make money if you hustle, but you really have to hustle. managers are told they work 10hr days, but it's more like 15.

    Cons

-long work hours for minimal recognition
-corporate loves you one day and then hates you the next
-too bottom line and making numbers focused
-servers are children, have to hold their hands to get anything accomplished
-managers end up doing everything; bussing for the staff, running food, hosting, taking orders, and bartending all while trying to place their own orders, office work, and cooking all at the same time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You won't like working there

    co-workers and that's about it

    Cons

Management pay people no life the hours suck if you're part time just know you are really full time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe choose mangers that speak to their team respectfully, who actually care & will help by any means. Give your chilis heads a life!!! The hours suck & you never know when you'll be off. Terrible pay for what we go through.
