I worked at Christian Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

One year here is like five years anywhere else. You get to see all sides of urban medicine.

    Cons

Always looking over your shoulder to see if you are being set up or tested. Always in fear for your job. Management does not care about you, just the bottom line and how they look to upper management. Micromanagement runs rampant here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the employees do their jobs with out fear, harassment, or inordinate amount of trivial hoops to jump through. Back your employees, stand up for them.

I have been working at Christian Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly coworkers, top nurse executive is very approachable and great to work for/with, opportunities for advancement. Upper management are all, in general, very friendly. I've never seen that in any other organization. Most days as I'm walking out with staff from other floors/units I hear that they had a good shift. Overall staff seems satisfied.

    Cons

The organization will have to work to get the community to know it's as good of a hospital as it is. As with most hospitals right now, revenue is down which creates some feeling of instability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some testimonials out to the public from our patients who have had great experiences. Keep us informed of changes that may be coming.

I worked at Christian Hospital part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Almost all employees are doing their level best for the patients, very innovative and current for a community hospital, has many 20+ year employees

    Cons

Major bureaucracy and to much management secrecy-practically every decision has to be run through multiple committees before implementation, CH was more employee friendly place to work before it became the "C" in the BJC Health Care System

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Total transparency in management and engage your employees with progressive responsibilities to increase job satisfaction

    Pros

The people who work at Christian hospital are very friend. Everyone knows each other, and the teamwork is great, not only on your unit, but from floor to floor as well. Great opportunities to be involved! Self-governance model is followed with education, quality, and practice councils.
