Advice to Senior Management
Be make clear to employees that Chrysler will not be sold to any one, and secure the job to offer.

Advice to Senior Management

Cons
Working as contract, pay is not that great
Advice to Senior Management
make direct offers available for contract
Pros
Offers challenges for the talented. Diversity of job responsibility.
Cons
Management (Chrysler) still doesn't have a clue. They still promote and listen to the one's taht are leeching on the company. There are some people who are dumber than a bag of rocks, and should either be let go ro moved to an area where they can handle the work. For the good people that are still there, they have a double challenge of not only being recognized, but put into positions of responsibility and leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
You still have some dead wodd laying about - get rid of them. Listen to those that have experience and have survived the years of bad times, but helped pull the company back fromthe brink. Hire the talented, not based solely on a resume, but their actions and abilities. You should go after those you let go or allowed to retire in 1980, and bring them back, along with their skills. Some are willing to some back and help - and would do so without demanding a huge salary or other. Don't be afraid you (managemnt) has made a mistake putting someone in charge or promoting them. Either put them where they would do some good with whatever talents they have, and put someone in their place who will be the true leader and knows what the job demands.
Pros
Enjoyed my job, my supervisors were fair because I worked hard. If you work hard and do your job, you will be praised and rewarded. If you are one who follows the union rules to a "T" and does not want to do 1 step beyond when your boss occasionally asks you for the good of the company and the customer, you may have issues with your supervisor.
Cons
Other employees who were not fulfilling their share of the job need to be removed, this makes it unfair and frustrating for those who are working hard on the line.
Advice to Senior Management
Chrysler "blacklists" employees. If you have worked there in the past, good luck getting a job there in the future.
Pros
A "real" automotive company versus a corporation that makes cars.
Opportunities to create value for the corporation
If you like automobiles and trucks, this is a great place
Gigantic building/all under one roof
Wonderful coworkers
Cons
Uncertainty about future viability of company
Infighting between departments/territoriality
Competence of some Directors is questionable
Bad management decisions can devastate operations and lives
Upper management tends to propagandize things as rosy when they are not
Advice to Senior Management
Get honest with the employees; the Cerberus legacy has not been erased at your headquarters. People are not happy overall, but are working like dogs to make things work. Recognize them. You laid off a lot of your most competent people in IT to save a few bucks with Tata; how's that going for you? Feedback from your present employees says it is a disaster. I would still return in a heartbeat because of the people and the core (versus the corporate) culture.
Pros
energetic work environment and vast opportunities
Cons
strict company policies and management
Pros
Chrysler was a good employer, fail because of the economy
Cons
Down because of the economy
Advice to Senior Management
Need to control production out put
Pros
The company is extremely adaptable and resiliant after its financial distress in recent years, and the company is very hopeful for the future. The need for young and creative people is overwhelming - those without automotive background may be better positioned than they think! The building is cavernous with all of the basic amenities, and if having to make a meeting at the other end of the building get ready for a power walk!
Cons
While Chrylser is despartely in need of creative minds, it does a poor job at harnessing creativity. Engineering really runs the show and marketing is often an afterthought. HR needs considerable improvement - there is a great disconnect between them and the rest of the company. Don't be turned off by a bad brush with HR, as it is not indicative of the way things work.
Advice to Senior Management
Give up some control! Recruit talented minds from other disciplines and from outside of Michigan and give them significant responsibility!
