Pros
An easy job to get if you have previous automotive experience, but on the bottom of automotive companies to work for. As of now Chrysler is not the company it once was but that is still no excuse for the treatment of their new employees.
Cons
There was only one upside and that was a consistent schedule, when they felt like giving out hours to workers.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should be completely changed over and a new crew of younger management should take the lead.
Pros
Cafeteria, benefits - HSA. In house tech support, car deals.
Cons
No future growth, laughable tuition reimbursement, semi-arrogant leadership
Advice to Senior Management
I was forced to turn down 2 promotions because my Director would not release me. I think this mind set pretty well described the ambitions of the company. Chrysler was (might still be) a struggling company in a business where the same old people will not save it. Chrysler needed to spend more time and effort growing and mentoring it's young candidates. My employee reviews went as such, "I think you're doing a great job and I want to mark you excellent in almost every category, but management says I can't or else we have to pay you more."
Pros
opportunity to advance in the organization is great. Team oriented environmnet. Great facility with all the tools necessarry for performing your job
Cons
Diversity is out of control at chrysler. Many jobs are given to underqualified employees based on race or gender, which is detrimental to the success of the company
Advice to Senior Management
Hire and promote the best and most talented employees. Your process for assessing an employees performance is outdated and inefficient.
Pros
Great People and product, excellent long term vision
Cons
Development, communication and lack of advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Recognition and worklife balance
Pros
Great wages, lots of technology, little to no accountability if your a poor performer, folks can do nothing for weeks, and remain employed
Cons
Old school system, dump more work on the ones who can, let the ones who can't perform, perform even less.
Advice to Senior Management
Deal with the issues, someone not performing shouldn't just be moved around. Get rid of the good old boys system.
Pros
It allows the ability to be involved with some of the newest technologies around. You also get to see something worthwhile completed by the end of the day.
Cons
At times you must sacrifice and give up any work/life balance you may have had. Weekends and holidays are often spent working.
Advice to Senior Management
Chrysler does a good job of getting people compensated for the work that they do. The work/life balance is something that cannot be sacrificed for some people.
Pros
The pay is great and the benefits are also. The best part of the job was the U.A.W. The union kept the pay and benefits equal across the board
Cons
Well the downside is you have to work a lot of hours
Advice to Senior Management
Be more professional, if a employee needs a day off give it to them.
Pros
Compensation "WAS" acceptable. Benefits good as well.
Cons
Incompetent mgt lead to bankruptcy. Too heavily focused on short term profits, personal compensation packages related to buyouts & takeovers like Cerberus & Daimler. Former mgt took their money and exited leaving non E-roll or C-roll employees in the lurch.
Advice to Senior Management
Cap executive compensation to the same percentage payouts as the non E-roll or C-roll employees. Don't hide behind excuses the company will lose that talent - LET THEM GO.
Pros
A very grassroots organiztion where most people are trying to do there best for the customer.
Cons
Lacking visionary leadership, too much nepitism and entitlement.
Advice to Senior Management
Do not be content to follow, not your competitors nor the practices of your past.
Pros
This company is stabilizing and starting to move upward. A lot of products and projects are being worked on. Pay and Benefit is comparable with the other 2 auto OEMs in Detroit . It will hire 1000 more engineers next year.
Cons
It takes time for the company to have fundamental changes. Personal growth is fairly limited in my department. Still quite a lot politics among groups / departments.
