Pros
Very Good Pay Compensation. Benifits are pretty good.
Cons
Not knowing what the plans of the company are regarding new work coming into and present work that is being transferred out from thier facilities. Not getting told the truth about happenings between the union and the company regarding plant closures.
Advice to Senior Management
The upper management at Chrysler really needs to listen more to the voice of the common worker. These common hourly workers are more knowledgable than they give credit for when it comes to the everyday productivity of the team environment of the Chrysler facilites.
Pros
Chrysler is a company with great history.
Cons
The time I was there was a tough time with the state of the economy.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall the leadership was good at Chrysler.
Pros
Work is not intellectually challenging
Small company size compared to other automotive manufacturers
Liberal time off and vacation for management employees
Cons
No job securities
Nepotism very evident in both hiring and promotions
Poor management at the senior levels
High employee dissatisfaction levels
Advice to Senior Management
Look to your mid-level management employees for process improvement ideas
Pros
Management is understanding about the need for time off. They understand the value of a family.
Cons
They still expect a ludicrous amount of work and productivity given the hats that one person needs to wear. They have 'let go' dozens of folks in out area yet are not understanding why things cant get done with the skeleton crew that remains
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management is realistic while middle management is straight out of Dilbert.
Pros
You can learn a lot about cars and earn good money. It helped me put 2 girls through college at the same time.
Cons
It can be very hard work when it comes to lifting parts for a woman. But if you use proper body mechanics you can do the work.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your workers on the floor that has been there for many years, they can tell you a lot about the way the machines run and the best way to get the output you need from the machine.
Pros
The company gives out want you put into it. If you put your best foot forward and work hard, the company will produce opportunities in your favor. Dedication is always good.
Cons
company was having hard times...lots of layoffs
Advice to Senior Management
I enjoyed my time at chrysler
Pros
1. Comensation and benifits
2.Work doesn't come homw with you
3. You don't have to thiing to do the work. Color by numbers approach to most tasks
Cons
1. You don't have to thiing to do the work. Color by numbers approach to most tasks
(If you like to stay stimulated mentally, you can see why this would be a problem)
2. Some of the jobs can be physically taxing
3. Poor balance between work and social life
Advice to Senior Management
I hsve no advice for Management.
Pros
The engineering is still enjoyable and worthwhile.
Job scope and responsibility can be significantly higher than at competitors.
Cons
Lower senior management is process rather than product oriented. Promotions in the past 10 years (the Daimler years) were more priented to preferential treatment (race, sex, etc) and process. As such Chrysler lacks product leaders and has a follower mentality.
Advice to Senior Management
Make product decisions!
Quit advancing those who are undeserving and incapable and are advanced only because of their status.
Pros
Small company gives an overall access to many functional areas with transparency, nice people, innovative products, and excellent engineers
Cons
Poor direction to developing new products and knowing what the market wants. Does not respect the expertise that well.
Advice to Senior Management
Identify the expertise quickly and develop a strong career path. Invest in people, people and people..and listen to the market. The success will follow.
Pros
Chrysler is a large company with many opportunities. You can work for 30 years and never get bored.
Cons
Chrysler does a very poor job of understanding employees' performance. Too many employees are allowed to under perform. I believe this mostly due HR policies and the work required. Meaning if a manager gives one of his employees a poor ebaluarion, he will not only have to have fill justification but also have to provide extra training and mentoring. On many cases the manager is considered at fault if he has a employee that received a poor evaluation.
Advice to Senior Management
Evaluate, set goals and requirements, and conduct reviews of performance. Real reviews. Also stop letting HR dictate who you can and can't hire and fire. So many times I have seen the manager's first choice get rejected, due to paper requirements.
