Current Employee – been working at Chubb Corp
Pros – If able to take advantage of the benefits some of them are good. Up to management.
Cons – Management does not know their job and delegates to employees to do for them. Unfair to some employees and not others. Discriminate on raises and promotions.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to focus on their employees. Send out a survey that really is confidential. When you do you will see how bad it really is there

Pros – In this economy Chubb is $$$ stable. Health care benefits are great
Cons – Micro management can be difficult when several managers feel they are more important than the next manager. Lack of communication / direction / accountiblity. People are wound too tight with stress and success or therefore lack of.
Management / supervisors / work leaders need training on how to be leaders, how to manage and how to direct and how to be directed. This training should be monitored by performance.
Management is all too quick to offer demeaning critizisms that erodes ones self esstem, and in the same breath commend their own efforts to run a tight ship.
Management should change and/or rotate jobs/postions from time to time. Its always a good idea to work in all aspects of the business, from department to department, to unit to unit, to branch to branch.
Advice to Senior Management – We all have jobs to perform. Integrity breeds honesty and sincerity. Monitor each other because we are all in someone eye sight of failure or success. We want to be seen with success!
Open minds allow open communication, which is key to constructive criticism and how it is interpreted. Integrity breeds honesty and sincerity. Be truthful in all you do.

Current Employee – been working at Chubb Corp
Pros – The knowledge of the industry you will gain, as well as, the company benefits. They take training very seriously and have many outlets for growth in that area. Also their name recognition will take you very far in the industry!
Cons – Chubb is not known for high salary compensation. They can afford to not be on the high end of the pay scale within the industry because they are one of the best insurance companies in the business.
Advice to Senior Management – To not be afraid of dropping the hammer on the inadequate people, it's important to get rid of the low achievers.

Current Employee – been working at Chubb Corp
Pros – Chubb is a great place to work because all the people are very nice and helpful. Management is very understanding and it is not a ridiculously stressful environment to work in. Also, in this marketplace, Chubb is a very reliable company and you will have job security.
Cons – In general, Chubb pays less than most other insurance companies.
Advice to Senior Management – None at this time.

Pros – From a customer's standpoint it is a great insurance company - the customer comes first, if any doubt - their loss is covered. The benefit is always given to the insured. The benefits are very good; and depending on what office you work in - work/life balance is supported.
Cons – Because it is a good company to work for - people tend not to leave and that limits the opportunities for advancement. There are broad differences in working for the company depending on what department and/or what office you work in. Senior Management/Home Office needs to do a much better job at communicating in general and at communicating a vision for the company.
Advice to Senior Management – They need to communicate early, more often and better. The gossip grapevine (and just regular individual worry) does more damage than just coming out and communicating to people what is going on.
Also need to communicate their sense of vision - there isn't enough (or any) leadership vision from the Senior Management.
Senior Management needs to reach down to the lower ranks for feedback - especially on what needs to be changed/improvement - and they cannot be any retribution if that feedback is negative (there is a sense among the middle-management and staff that any criticism - even constructive - will mean that not only won't you get promoted, but you will be at risk of losing your job. But reaching down isn't just for the feedback - when new ideas, projects or change is necessary (even something as basic as changing a workflow), Snr Mgmt tends not to include the people who are actually involved in that aspect of the business -- consequently, the change usually doesn't achieve the desired goal because the people with the knowledge to get it done are not included in the development process.

Pros – Company has a great reputation within the industry. Stock has held up well as compared to peers and the company continues to outperform its competitors.
Cons – Company is highly political and definitely not a meritocracy. This situation worsens the farther you make it up their corporate ladder.
Advice to Senior Management – Please retire and leave so the next generation, which is significantly more competent and actually cares about the company, can take over.

Current Employee – been working at Chubb Corp
Pros – In good financial shape. Good support from lower management. Good benefits.
Cons – Little regard from upper management for employee welfare. A lot of recent reductions in employee benefits and flexibility.
Advice to Senior Management – Reward employee loyalty. Use layoffs as last resort. Give better financial recognition. Realize that your employees are as important to your success as the current quarter's financials

Pros – Stability. Chubb is a very stabile boring company. With the economy the way it is now that is really something that makes you feel good about the place.
Cons – Chubb is very conservative and sometimes misses the boat due to the old style of thinking. The culture at Chubb is very strong and somewhat unwilling to change. The business customers as well as IT management take a "It's good enough" attitude towards processes and work flows, as opposed to thinking "How can we make this better?" Many of the employees at Chubb have been working there for more then 15 years so as a result they often view change as an evil thing.
Advice to Senior Management – Be visionary, stop thinking about what you've done and start thinking about how to be successful going forward.
