    Pros

This may be the best insurance company to work for because of its reputation, stability, and opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Systems are older than many of the employees which is laughable but tolerable

    Advice to Management

Transparency would be nice. Stop paying branch managers country club dues and start investing in technology before the industry leaves you in the dust

    Pros

    Interesting claims and work assignments.

    Cons

Micro-managed by Supervisor and Supervisor's assistant.

    Advice to Management

Give the employees a chance to do their jobs without being subjected to micro-management and supervisors who only want to make themselves look good.

    Pros

Great benefits! Not too difficult to get hired compared to other companies.

    Cons

Its who you know not what you know to get promoted. Loyalty is only to a special few so keep your resume handy.

    Advice to Management

    Diversity diversity diversity

    Pros

As an except employee I am given extra pto days for working half days.

    Cons

Lies, lots of them. They lied about tuition reimbursement. They department never budgets for it so don't expect anything. The HR rep lied about my salary structure and advised me after 6 months they would review my work. They sure did then, then prorated half of it and have me $280 as half my raise. Which means if I worked there all year then I would have made less then 600. Complete lies and they come one after another.

    Advice to Management

You're running a sweat shop in the auto department. People are falling apart and it's present in the 40% turnover rate you have had so far this year. Stop overwhelming people with unreachable expectations. Lastly, please stop lieing, I was hired there with a desire to learn. You have truly hurt my career path.

    Pros

I liked the reputation of Chubb, as it made it easy to sell. Benefits were great, pay was adequate.

    Cons

    1. HR had no integrity. Complaint were not taken seriously, even sexual harassment. They protected the lifers in mgmt.
    2. Local mgmt felt they were entitled. Branch mgmt had head in sand.
    3. Investigate your local management before signing on (Google them). For example, my manager was a sociopath.
    4. Systems antiquated.
    5. Too meant layers of management made it difficult to get deals done.

    Advice to Management

    1. Stop protecting your inbred lifers. The deadweight stays and the talent leaves doing great things elsewhere (using Chubb philosophies and core values).
    2. I want to thank Chubb for training me - I've found much success elsewhere. I'm well respected and making a bucket of money now!

    Pros

Good place to work as an underwriter as they are the most respected group. Nice enough facilities. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Jobs were too narrowly defined to be challenging or interesting. Management was more focused on upper management than on their reports. Too many employees are lifers, becoming a snobbish clique with no experience in how the outside world works. The company is strangled by its ancient technology. Lots of job cutting going on now.

    Advice to Management

Bring in some new blood and try some new things. Offer employees the opportunity to stretch. Work to become more contemporary in all things before your reputation no longer carries you.

    Pros

Corporate culture is great - very supportive. This is the best place in the insurance industry to learn insurance as a young person starting his or her career. Very diverse organization. National and Global reach. One of the top four markets in each niche that they participate in, which allows for some operating leverage in the marketplace. Leadership is strong - does a good job of communicating the vision and direction of the company. Work life balance and flexible arrangements are available.

    Cons

Has become a very flat organization - one needs to find their niche and brand themselves early on in order to move up. Not as easy to rise as it was 10 years ago, but that means that those that are getting ahead are better suited for the success in the future. Comp is fair but other less established players will typically pay more.
