I worked at Chubb Corp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Chubb lives up to its reputation of being the best insurer and providing the best coverage, with a culture that strives to achieve that mission. Great PTO offerings, good bonus structure for high performers, great people with good camaraderie. A lot of long-time employees.

    Cons

Continual reduction in field claim staff over my 13 years with Chubb resulted in unreasonable increases in demand of travel by property claim adjusters. Requirement to be "on call" for catastrophes 3 months each year with the expectation that you are available 1-2 weeks before and after each month in essence makes you "on call" 5+ months per year. Many/most advancement opportunities require relocation, which the company will not fund.

    Advice to Management

Quit stretching your claim staff too thin. The expense you save is detrimental to the customer experience. They're paying much higher premiums than the would elsewhere to receive the best service possible, but you're not putting your employees in the best position to succeed.

    Pros

If you like to socialize with your co-workers, Chubb Canada is for you. No one works very hard. It's all about lunches, drinks and playing golf

    Cons

Homogeneous workforce, no diversity, recruit from the same source year after year HR has zero integrity and influence employee survey results with cookies and donuts Terrible IT infrastructure/system and poor financial process in place, nothing works

    Pros

Long established company, great benefits programs. Great reputation in the industry. Consistently profitable in all 3 major customer groups. Employees treated fairly.

    Cons

All subject to change with acquisition by Ace. Uncertain future for 10,000 employees. Change due to acquisition often means reduction in force.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. Do not dilute the Chubb brand. Historical change is now underway. Do not forget that it is the employees who are responsible for Chubb's long term success.

I have been working at Chubb Corp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work/family balance. Compensation average to above-average. Very good benefits, although it has been decreasing over time. Nice location.

    Cons

In general IT has lagged behind, largely due to upper levels of management not staying current (holding on to old beliefs). Tremendous turnover at higher levels is helping. I am encouraged.

    Advice to Management

Invest in a governance effort where IT and the business are equally represented.

    Pros

Great benefits and vacation time. That is really all that is good about Chubb. I can't think of anything else to say.

    Cons

People are awful. Supervisor could care less if you succeed or fail. Lots of "clicks", just like in high school. Horrible work environment.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Chubb Corp full-time

    Pros

Chubb is an amazing company to work for if you are motivated. There are so many opportunities and the supervisors and managers are really supportive. They make everyone feel like a valuable asset to the team. They encourage growth, culture, and community service. I can't say enough good things about this company. They even have a room for nursing moms.

    Cons

No cons to mention. I would only recommend that you come ready to put your best foot forward to take advantage of the great opportunities here. This is not a place for get in get your paycheck and get out people. You'd be doing yourself and the company a disservice.
