I have been working at Chuy's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a fun place to work but by no means easy. It is always busy so get ready to work!

    Cons

The food is on the cheaper end so the customer base isn't always great, but you make your money off of volume and regulars.

I worked at Chuy's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great food discounts, lots of room for growth, people are great! Everyone gets along good! Money is good for a high schooler, maybe even college. If you're willing to put the work in you'll get noticed quickly. Uniform is generally easy (jeans/shorts, t shirt)

    Cons

Management needs to take on a better role, keeping track of employees and holding them accountable, quit treating people terribly and making them do things you wouldn't want yourself doing, and most of all some managers really need to GROW UP, I'm about 20 years younger than one manager and am more mature than him/her. Times can get slow, cuts rarely happen at that point,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to take account of everyone, think about the employees, hold meetings to see how everyone is doing.

I have been working at Chuy's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Everything is made from scratch. No freezer pulls, in fact, the only things that are frozen are ice cream scoops and french fries. Even margaritas use fresh squeezed lime juice and fresh sugar water, no artificial crap. We shred our own lettuce and grade our own cheese. Company is growing like crazy so there is so much opportunity compared to most places. I don't have to worry about GEM surveys every month messing up my bonus chances. A company that cares about the people that make them great.

    Cons

It's tough to eat healthy here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Refreshing to have upper management that knows what they are doing.

Former Employee - Waiter in Austin, TX

    I worked at Chuy's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very Flexible Schedule. Thursday through Sundays are busy. Job Security.

    Cons

Kitchen crashes, lack of service supplies, lack of teamwork - often half the staff is running the whole restaurant. New managers every two months. They preach a lot of values but don't follow there own code. It used to be a really great restaurant but we switch GMs twice and all our assistant managers five times in the last two years. It's a training store so our location is always under new mgmt. But really it was the kitchen running over 15 minute ticket times every single day that stressed me out. The kitchen is built to crash. They never ever fire anybody ever. Like terrible waiters with consistently high comps and bad attitudes continue to work there forever. So I guess if you're a crap waiter and wanna make more money Chuy's is for you. They're hiring always.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring people without restaurant experience.
