A chill & fun place to work with few drawbacks.

    I worked at Chuy's

    Pros

Very friendly atmosphere & co-workers along with a relaxed dress code & flexible schedule.

    Cons

If you can't get your shifts covered for some reason you're still responsible for the shift. The insurance isn't that great. When there are slow times the cuts can be aggressive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try being fairer to employees that may be at risk of burning out.

I have been working at Chuy's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I make really good money and have been bartending for awhile. Great family atmosphere. I really enjoy the people I work with and they offer room for growth

    Cons

Lack of management skills. Managers show favoritism and allow people to not do their job. Always leaves someone else to clean up there mess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold people accountable and make them do their job. Treat people like adults. Quit hiring so many people on drugs.

I have been working at Chuy's

    Pros

If you're in Texas, you'll love Chuys.

    Cons

Two companies inside one company. Chuy's Texas versus the rest of the country. Chuy's culture falling by the wayside as more and more restaurants open. Forward strategy appears to be open as many restaurants as possible and pump up the stock prices. New management being hired from outside, sometimes failed concepts, while solid veteran managers are being overlooked for promotion. It has the feel that the company is looking to sell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Looks great on the surface, peel away the layers and it's just another management job that beats you to death.

I have been working at Chuy's part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fast paced and fun working environment. Great community presence and giving back.

    Cons

Difficult time gaining promotions or moving around within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps having employees fill out anonymous surveys as the open door policy may not be as open as one would hope.

    Pros

great culture and fun environment in the home state of Tx. Scratch kitchen, great food.

    Cons

new markets are highly political and advancement is not based on merit. if you are one that can play the game you have a chance to grow your career. everyone is out for themselves. zero concern for work-life balance.....zero. they will work you to exhaustion without concern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take a honest look at what is happening.

I have been working at Chuy's

    Pros

The staff and managers are very friendly. Money is good if you're in the main dining room. Team work is promoted all of the time.

    Cons

Some times you get 3 table sections. If you're schedule for the patio and it's freezing outside, they still make you come in even though they know that you'll make no money.
