I have been working at Cincinnati Insurance full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

When you come to work here the idea is that you will be here for at least 20 years. Most people in the workplace have this 20+ year carreer here. This is a very stable job with lots of security in your job. Compared to others in the industry the benefits are above average to good. They are becoming more flexible with allowing people to work from home one or two days a week.

    Cons

Very conservative and this conservativism has hurt thier IT. Some of the main programs used here are as old as I am and it felt like I was stepping back in time. Even the new programs that they are rolling out feel like they were made and designed in the 90's. Their dress code is also conservative. During the winter on Fridays one can wear a NFL jersey; but you still have to wear dress pants and dress shoes. Also the paid time off/vacation time is below industry average, if you apply here understand that it will take awhile to get to 3-4 weeks vacation compared to other companies. Another negative is that it's in Fairfield, and that isn't going to change anytime soon. (Ironic that their name is Cincinnati Financial and they aren't even headquartered in Cincinnati). With the downtown area in Cincinnati booming I have a hard time understanding why they don't relocate to a much better, cooler, and exciting work envirnment. All in all, this company is great to work for if you want to build a carreer here and have a stable job. At the end of the day, it is what it is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider having casual Fridays. Build some sort of Gym/workout facility. Look into moving HQ downtown. Push for the best in IT, college grads coming into the workforce don't want to have to learn programs that are older than them.

I have been working at Cincinnati Insurance full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

On site soup and salad bar....whoo hoo!

    Cons

Pay below market average, attempting to purge higher salaried employees for new grads due to poor investment strategy. In 2008, holdings were 70% invested in 5/3 Bank....70%! how's that for diversification mostly due to former President's incestuous relationship with 5/3 Bank. Trickle down effect has been steady since then and reached a head with new management last 2 years. Now God awful place to work.....overworked in every department, installed new review system that everyone seems to agree has resulted in lower pay, promotions, bonuses for a company that was already known to be at the tail-end of the industry for years. "You always sacrificed pay for security" was what everyone knew at Cincinnati. New grads, which is what they are looking for, get in then get out quick to get a bigger paycheck is my advice because they will not match your next offer....never have for anyone even in better times. The place is like the walking dead at the end of the day because they work you to the bone, no one feels appreciated, and people long for the days when Jack Schiff Jr. was running the company which was much more family oriented.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your only sense is accountability is to shareholders. You will continue to lose good people, overwork the ones left until they themselves are burnt out, and ferret out the ones left behind as if they are not doing their job because they are so overworked. Feels like you're staying on a sinking ship if remain at this company. I would say you've "settled" if you remain here. Senior management only cares about enriching themselves....and talk about cronyism, nepotism at its worst. Business outlook improving for the company but at what cost?

I have been working at Cincinnati Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Upper management tries to foster a "family" atmosphere, with company social events once a year at the annual meeting in home office.

    Cons

Workloads are heavy, only experienced adjusters can survive, but the salaries are static. Benefits are below average, geared mainly to support employees in the Cincinnati area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to reconsider the whole benefits plan, it is well below industry standards.

    Pros

Competitive salary, nice management, great company car program

    Cons

Don't really train new hires (need to find your own way), lagging with technology, no clear direction is Loss Control dept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find out what the agents want and how they can position themselves to use your resources. Get loss control resources.
