    Advice to Management

It is frustrating when we aren't given consistent schedules.

    Pros

Free Movies! Free Popcorn and Soda! Discount Candy!

    Cons

Goodbye life! Do not expect to have any sort of work life balance. In addition, the GM's are overworked and take it out on the AM's. Corporate talks a big game about caring about their employees but the truth is that company is a revolving door that could care less about retention. Regardless of multiple complaints to the District Manager, nothing was done about blatant mishandling of business...but can you blame the GMs? They're all underpaid and undertrained and have to answer a billion emails a day all contradicting each other. Hitler's 3rd Reich was better organized.

    Advice to Management

Hey upper management - Look at companies who ACTUALLY take care of their employees and maybe follow suit!

    Pros

    Easy to get free popcorn.

    Cons

    Pay is not so high.

    Advice to Management

    Up the pay

  6. I worked for at a Cinemark Century 16 Theater for about a year as a part-tim usher/box office associate.

Former Employee - Usher, Cashier, Box Office Associate in Anchorage, AK

I worked at Cinemark part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The best part about this job was probably my coworkers- there were rarely any instances of inner conflict, and we all got along very well. My managers in particular were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the promotion rate from usher to management was pretty frequent. Free movies and popcorn were great, too.

    Cons

The customers mostly. Lots of messy, entitled people, and of course the under 16 crowd who thought they were super clever trying to sneak into R-rated movies.
Also, if you're consistently accurate with your till and cash-handling you pretty much get stuck on cashier/box office duty which is not as mobile as the usher work and more monotonous.

    Advice to Management

There were some instances where new employees weren't properly trained, or given to other inexperienced workers to train, so maybe a bit more structure in that regard.

  7. Five years of employment

    Pros

Great relationships with staff. Movie environment is great. Free movies.

    Cons

I have been an assistant manager for the past 1 year and I haven't received a raise since. I make $10.25....many floor staff members with very little experience make nearly the same wage as me. To say Cinemark is cheap would be a gross understatement.

    Advice to Management

Work hard and demand your raise.

    Pros

Made great friends. Free popcorn and movies.

    Cons

Horrible pay (barely more than MINIMUM wage as a manager). Horrible and rude patrons. No upper management support. Never allowed to take lunch. Insane hours.

    Advice to Management

    Pay better, schedule better.

    Pros

    Love the caring management
    Flexible schedule
    Entry level
    Customers are usually kind

    Cons

    Uniforms
If you're not careful you could burn yourself
If something breaks, forget about talking to corporate

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, all you managers. You are the greatest. Corporate could afford to listen to their branches more often.

    Pros

Free movies for you and another person any time, free popcorn and drinks (ICEE/Soda), and 50% off concessions items.

    Cons

Stressful work environment. Busy days can keep you on your feet and moving your whole shift - also expect to deal with some rude and difficult costumers.

If you are 18 years or older, unless worked out with the scheduling manager, expect to close at times which can mean staying till 12 - 3AM.

    Advice to Management

Allow tips and pay employees better.

    Pros

I loved the people I worked with, it was a fun environment. I worked in the box office, and when I got to work side by side with people it was great fun. I enjoyed coming to work.

    Cons

Busy days could be stressful, especially holidays, or midnight premieres. Shifts could get really long, end even then you had to stay longer than your posted shift often.

    Advice to Management

Don't separate the box office workers. Give them a partner when possible.
