I have been working at Cinemark

    Pros

The co-workers are fun and the free movies are nice. Popcorn and food is always fresh

    Cons

Lots of hours, low pay. Difficult to get time off since they are open every day of the year from early morning to late evenings. No commissions, employees are not allowed to take tips. Everyone starts off in concessions at $7.25. The pay is not really worth the labor and tasks. You cannot get a raise out of turn even if you are the most highly valued employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more lenient with your employees. Don't be so stingy and greedy.

I have been working at Cinemark full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very flexible hours and freedom to assign availability allows a person to work while still attending school or having a second job.
The job can be fun and your coworkers, managers, and regular customers become more like your friends.

    Cons

Many rude, insulting, and sometimes abusive customers.
The building is open every single day from early mornings to late nights including all holidays. Getting together with friends and family is often difficult.
The pay is low and there is no overtime.
The job is cyclical and you'll do the same thing week after week when new movies come out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more flexibility in regards to scheduling and hiring

Let people sort out their own inventory, or don't get mad at them if the person you assigned to do it for them messes up.

I have been working at Cinemark part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The perks of working at a movie theater are the free movies. I've saved so much money just seeing these $11 movies for free.

    Cons

Sometime there are long hours or early hours, but overall it's not too bad.

I worked at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

    Pros

It was a great first job with wonderful perks such as free movies and snacks. The scheduling was also very reasonable.

    Cons

You have to be willing to give up your nights, weekend, and holidays. The upward movement though te company can be pretty slow.

I have been working at Cinemark part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The schedule is fantastic because you can basically work any time you want. The environment is fun and relaxed and the people are great. The job is fairly easy too, and you get free movies. After 1 year they give you employer match into the 401k which is nice. This job is also great because you can travel anywhere in the country just by transferring or promoting.

    Cons

The pay sucks. You get a percentage of $.25 every 6 months. Assistant managers barely get more than minimum wage and when you become a General Manager the pay is better, but not comparable to the same position in retail stores or restaurants. Also, in my almost 20 years in the industry I have only had 1 Region Leader that used positive reinforcement to support his managers. All others say nothing as long as you hit your numbers and nit-pick and complain when you make mistakes. If you can get over these two things, its a great place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior leadership needs to be much more supportive of their managers, especially considering what they get paid. The company is too reliant on email and resists cultural change.

I have been working at Cinemark full-time

    Pros

Free Movies. Steady, if meager, income.

    Cons

Raises are based off of a review, and then it is based off of the percent of your review with the max being $0.25 in 6 months. So if you are the best employee they have ever seen, the biggest raise you can get is $0.25. If you get a 75% on your review then you get a $0.19 raise per hour. No one is ever given 100%.

Every superior you have to call by Mr., Mrs. Miss. Ect. This is demoralizing and egotistical.

There is a huge moral problem. Good employees are over worked and under appreciated, and burn out fast. Bad employees remain, and then get advanced.
