    I hate it here

I have been working at Cinemark part-time for less than a year

    Pros

We get free movies and popcorn when we come see a movie. But these are literally the only few perks we have.

    Cons

I get paid minimum wage to stand behind a counter for 7 hours at a time and deal with customer who are some of the worst I have ever had to deal with even considering the fact that when you go to a movie theater it is supposed to be a happy and fun experience. The managers at my location are not well trained and my GM is horrible at leading us crew members. We have to wait until Thursday night or even until early Friday morning to receive our schedule from our GM. Heck, I even remember waiting 45 minutes for my interview. Not to mention the equipment is old and we constantly have equipment that need repairs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the crew feel motivated and happy to be at work to the best of your ability. Don't do what my management team is doing and try to constantly point out what we are doing wrong in an attempt to fix it. This just frustrates us and we lose motivation.

I have been working at Cinemark part-time

    Pros

flexible hours, fun coworkers, free movies, organized, relatively efficient, clean, more or less safe; not a lot of good to say

    Cons

Overly protective of stock (you have to write a note explaining that you ripped a paper bag, or that you selected the 'wrong' large cup even though the only difference is the word printed on it), Rude management, poor pay, stressful environment with random surges of business, too strict of a dress code for a service position, if they catch you 'standing around' (waiting for a customer at you register so you're not busy when they need help) you get told to do something even if you've already cleaned everything a million times

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up - I get that concessions pay our salaries, but if we dropped something, don't make us fill out a note like we're in the second grade

    I worked at Cinemark part-time

    Pros

Free popcorn and movies. Reasonably flexible management staff, except for the GM.

    Cons

Low pay, no/minimal raises or incentives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your subordinates with respect and you'll most certainly get it in return. Treat them like crap, well...

I have been working at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The perks are awesome: free movies, access to posters and other ad material, half off food items and free drink and popcorn during shift. The work is simple, no-brainer stuff. It is perfect, in my opinion, to use as a starting job, or for an easy, no stress workplace

    Cons

The pay is really static and hard to work towards; this establishment seems more geared towards easy, unambitious work than work hard to earn more. Also, the management, or possibly the corporation as a whole, seems to prefer catering to policies of the company instead of compromising with employees on an individual basis; the shifts are lengthy and only involve one thrity-to-forty-five minute break, regardless of how long you've been working

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees some drive to do more than the bare minimum; punish insubordinate employees more than those who forget simple issues; be sure to allow employees to train into other departments without issue (a problem many concessionists at my location have issues with); be more flexible with shifts

Former Employee - Assistant Manager in East Stroudsburg, PA

I worked at Cinemark full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free movies , worked with some great people , discounted food , management experience , resume builder

    Cons

If you want to get brought up you to be a favorite of the gm or senior assistants. Hours cut for no reason while señor assistants got doubles. Pay was terrible for what managers had to do. Señor assistants where never punished for stuff they did wrong. On the other hand assistant mangers lost privileges or hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat everyone equal

    Pros

the co-workers are friendly, you can definitely make friends there, it's not a difficult job to obtain, you get access to free movies, as well as popcorn and discount on other concession items

    Cons

it's hard to get wage raises even if you are incredibly good at your job. few benefits outside free movies, work can be tiresome during busy weekends, and your schedule changes week by week
