I have been working at Cinemark part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Free movies, good coworkers, plenty of hours, flexible schedule (except for weekends, you should be available on weekends)

    Cons

Minimum wage, very small raises (could be as low as a 10 cents), poor leadership, rude customers, very late hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To upper management, I would advise making sure the general managers are not being unfair. If we were to get drinks or pull out our cell phones on the floor it would be a write up, suspension, or even termination. Yet managers and especially general managers just walk out and get soda, ice cream, nachos, pop corn, and use their smart phones. Lead by example, guys.

I have been working at Cinemark full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Always something new and interesting. Free movies are a plus. As a manager the pay isn't that great but once you move up to a senior assistant and to GM, it's worth it. 401k and benefits come with it. If not, it's good job only to get through school after that you need to move on.

Also, as an assistant you learn a lot about the overall operation of the company. It's great because it can be applied in many areas of business. Experience of that nature alone helped many former employees get the job opportunities they wanted

    Cons

Holidays, nights and weekends are a must. In the Off peak season, the hours are bare bone. Late hours up to 3 am at times. This company will completely take advantage of you if you let them. Your experience here solely depends on the management team, a good one will make it enjoyable to work here.

Everyone is expendable and they don't value their employees. Management is taken care of. Little more. So this is a good job for management, nothing lower

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help assistants get to SAM level if they deserve it. A lot of talent and hard working managers leave because of the lack of benefits and pay. Don't take them for granted, they are the ones who get the GMs promoted by helping with the overall operation

I worked at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free movies and popcorn if "privileges" aren't retracted.

    Cons

Management are pricks! They like to abuse their authority by yelling at their staff, over random things that isn't their fault. If you want to advance into another position e.g. becoming a manager, your only chose to become one if management favors you. So there isn't any chance of advancement. Coworkers love to gossip and are cliquish since majority of them graduated from high school and attends community college. Entitled customers that will love to make your life miserable i.e. yelling at you for no apparent reason, creates huge messes for their amusement , and will ask the most idiotic questions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show respect to each of your staff and create innovative incentives! Without incentives there isn't any motivations to come to work. Also, you guys have to stop acting jovial and act your age, any trained simpleton can have your job, because it doesn't require any skills so stop being complacent.

I worked at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

    Pros

A good thing about working on the floor here is that there are many jobs to do- ushering, working the concession stand, or working in the box office. The variety makes you less bored.

    Cons

The cons about working here are that you start at minimum wage, and the raises are only small amounts of cents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should be less hypocritical and also work with you, instead of watch you work.

I worked at Cinemark part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only exceptional thing working there is the privileges that is if it isn't annul. As for coworkers their okay, but can be cliquish so get along with some of them.

    Cons

Management are pompous and intolerable! They will treat employees unfairly and will exert authority for their own amusement. They will schedule more hours to the employee whom they favor and will give less hours to the unfavorable.
Advancement will be granted to the favorable employees, while the unfavorable will be passed over. e.g. if the favorable employee was lazy but friendly with management he/she will be promoted while the unfavorable employee whom is diligent with their work will be passed over, since they weren't chummy with senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be capable of being considerate to employees and must seek the potential in creative employees, and they must work with employees to hone in their skills through feedback, so that they can do something worthwhile once they quit their employment and apply for a better career. They also should implement more incentives to make work tolerable and enjoyable so that their employees will be motivated and less bored with doing the menial tasks.

I worked at Cinemark part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good if you want to watch movies (if they don't revoke movie privileges due to low inventory counts, which makes no sense). Can be fun if you get along with co-workers. Mostly H.S. and college kids.

    Cons

Low pay. Mobility only if a manager position opens up. Dealing with busy weekends and nights. Can be there til 3am cleaning up messes. Dealing with irritable customers who yell at you, only for them to be accommodated by managers who don't want to get yelled at. Poor management, cares little for their staff. A lot of them get high from the power trip over regular employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

benefits, compensation, consistent perks would be nice. more consideration of employee treatment and accomodation. You'd get happier workers and better guest service that way. Show a bit more gratitude and flexibility.

I have been working at Cinemark full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of hours available during peak times of the year. Plenty of opportunities to do things around the building - projection, box office, concessions, ushering, maintenance. Good management team at my location.

    Cons

Pay is less than awesome, plus there is no overtime except for holiday hours on certain holidays at certain times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote quality employees to managers only. Offer higher starting pay to employees and overtime pay year-round after 40 hours. Don't focus on corporate audits so much, takes the emphasis off of the guests.
