Current Employee – been working at Cintas
Pros – Good benefits and a four day work week.
Cons – No chance for advancement unless you really suck up to upper mgmt.Your numbers are a big thing and if you don't make them you are pressured to get them any way you can, ethical or unethical.Even though you are told we ( Cintas ) don't want it done by unethical means, they turn a blind eye to it when a customer calls them out on something that the ssr has done.Of course they deny any knowledge of what has happened.
Advice to Senior Management – Get out into the real world instead of sitting behind your desk all day.Get on a route weekly and see whats going on in the business. It is totally different that what any of your number crunching reports may say.Sales are not always there for everyone in every territory.L/R's are not going to be there unless people are quitting and not returning garments, and in these economic times people are holding onto jobs longer.

Former Employee – worked at Cintas
Pros – Customer Focus organization that knows its customers well and positions itself very well in the market place
Vision
Professionalize
Customer centric
benefits
Cons – Adequate but not exceptional salary. Path to success can be very unclear. Rigid conformity sometimes puts off new employees and potential employees
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to do the same. However, employee flexibility is more and more important every year, so relaxing some standards and long term habits might help

Current Employee – been working at Cintas
Pros – Cintas offers good benefits, excellent training, lots of opportunity for advancement for the right person at the right location, and friendly people to work with.
Cons – A lot is expected from employees including long hours, tough physical work, and the pay is not all that great anymore from where it used to be.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue with the excellent training, and also continue with the quest to become a World-Class Safety Organization, safety is key.

Current Employee – been working at Cintas
Pros – Most of the people that work for Cintas are wonderful people to work with. The key word is "most"!! I have made life long friends with people there..
Cons – First of all watch your back!! There are people there that will tell you one thing to your face then turn around and do or say another quite often.. I.E. the GM, OM/GM, Sales Directors and VP's. They talk about culture and taking care of the "Partners" ,thats the biggest joke in that place. It's all about the #'s and what have you done for me lately.
Advice to Senior Management – Think about your "Partners" and not just your #'s and maybe you might see a little more loyalty and Partners that might last longer than 1-2 years.

Former Employee – worked at Cintas
Pros – Good company to work for. Good growth track record. Opportunities for advancement for employees who are willing to take advantage of the opportunities that are offered.
Cons – Highly sales and profit driven, sometimes to the detriment of employees. Unrealistic goals set, based on past successes without taking into account differing markets, and economic conditions.
Advice to Senior Management – Allow your leaders to lead. Lay off the command & control centralized management style & promote individuals based on all around capabilities vs performance only.

Former Employee – worked at Cintas
Pros – There is a lot of really good people working there.
Cons – They do not treat their employees fairly or anywhere nearly as good as they say they will. Discriminatory actions throughout. Unfair dismissals throughout. Letting people go and stating it was a reduction in force and then replacing them. Very illegal.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop using your "the Spirit is the Difference" as your slogan for Cintas to be a great place to work. It is not.

Current Employee – been working at Cintas
Pros – Money is great. All I have to do is find ways to take it from my customers pockets and put it into Cintas's (mine)
Cons – Tough on your mind if you have any morals / ethics. The idea of ripping off churches and small family run businesses because they typically have poor accounting / oversight of their books. Made it tough to sleep at first, trained to think that if they dont take the time to think about what they are paying, then its too bad for them.
Advice to Senior Management – Find ways to make money the old fashioned way. Work hard and make money, not lie cheat and steal your way to bonuses and profits

Current Employee – been working at Cintas
Pros – Overall the company is stable - economic lulls aren't met with widespread layoffs. You have a level of autonomy as far as what time you start your day and how you organize your deliveries and customer interaction. With the right manager you are encouraged to make front line decisions on a lot of things. There is no "I have to take this to my manager for approval" - you handle customer issues on the spot, and the better you are at selling yourself and your company, the more successful you will be. You can go days, even weeks sometimes, without having to answer to a manager at all. There is a concerted effort to make the company fun and playful in nature - by and large the people that work for the company are amazing. I met a lot of good friends at the company over the years, people that I have continued to keep touch with, who still work there, and who have moved on.
Cons – There is no union. Your salary and commission structure may be changed at a whim, and your options are basically to either threaten to quit or just take the pay cut. The program that the sales reps sell is not the same as what you are asked to do by management in the service department. Example: Sales reps key on excessive replacement charges from competitors, and state that Cintas doesn't do such a thing. As a SSR, you are asked to charge the customer 20% of their revenue for replacement on every invoice to meet your job performance. The downside of all the autonomy you get is the level of responsibility you have - sometimes the hours are very long when your goal is to have every customer very satisfied. If you are unhappy, things will quickly grow very uncomfortable for you there - people are expected to always maintain a positive outlook regardless of what your situation is.
Advice to Senior Management – Changing the pay plan on nearly a yearly basis creates a lot of discord. Be consistent and communicate with dissatisfied employees the way that employees work to work with a customer who is dissatisfied. Treat your employees as assets you want to retain rather than assets you can afford to use and replace - Loyalty goes both ways.
