Pros
Friendly people.
Management was great to get to know.
Easy enough to move around in the company if you were willing to work hard
Cons
You need to work hard if you want to go anywhere.
Sometimes you find yourself stuck in a rut, but just pull yourself through and you'll do fine.
Advice to Senior Management
It's good, but I think there needs to be a little better communication between the plants and the top decision makers.
Pros
Nice benefits.
Employees are overall nice people below manager level.
Clean facilities.
Emphasis on safety and the customer.
Solid work hours.
Cons
Cintas is a corporate culture most will find horrible to survive in. It is not a positive working environment and management does not care for employees. They insult you even more by calling you partners. You must succumb to Cintas culture or you will be treated differently then those who do. You are overworked and too much is expected of you individually. Anything you tell HR in confidence is brought to your managers attention immediately. Overall you are treated as a thing that needs to perform your tasks perfectly otherwise you will be written up Nd eventually let go. If they hire any new drivers/SSRs it is only because they have someone in line to be fired.
Advice to Senior Management
Start to care for your employees, show them respect and they will be happy to work hard to obtain the companies goal. Of you continue to treat employees so harshly once the economy eventually bounces back up plenty of people will quit due to poor attitude from management.
Pros
being in sales at Cintas will help you learn the basics of outside sales. You will be getting it on a trial and error basis though.
Cons
Micromanagement is an understatement at this company. Also, they talk about the culture and how important it is. They don't operate according to culture and there is so much cheating and dishonesty within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Turn back the clock. The company used to be awesome. The bigger it got, the more corrupt it got. It went from a place where you were trusted and respected to a place that you were truly just a number.
Pros
Medical benefits are good. You don not have to worry about the company going belly up because their financials are in very good shape.
Cons
The Hours! Job description says 40 hours per week, but in reality you work 50-60 hours a week with no bump in pay. You are on salary, but if you need a day off it comes from your sick leave time or vacation time.Family life? What is that!
Advice to Senior Management
Cut back on the working hours to allow you to have an active home life. It would be nice to see your family everyday for more than an hour or two before bedtime. Once in management, I have learned that that doesn't matter to your upper management .
Pros
The company is committed to providing excellent training.
There is a good balance between work and home life. Very rarely will you bring your work home with you.
The compensation is very good.
Good benefits package
Cons
Outside of Sales, I would not recommend working at Cintas
Cintas continually keeps tweaking the commission and bonus structure to force reps to work harder to make the same money (this is infuriating)
They do not carry a full linen line to compete with their primary competition
Highest pricing in the industry
Sales success is highly linked to the service department's reputation and willingness to help
Advice to Senior Management
Their are two worlds at Cintas, the Sales World and the Operations World, and often success is mutually exclusive. What is good for one is often not good for the other. As a sales rep I am contstantly battling to not only make a sale but have to fight to get it installed. Management needs to force the operations department to do whatever they have to to accomodate a sale. Competition in the industry is fierce so sales are not easily made especially since Cintas is the highest priced option typically. However, overall, Cintas is a great company to work for and if you are successful you will make a lot of money. Also, I'm constantly being recruited into the medical field because they love a Cintas background due to training and experience it brings.
Pros
No follow-through on how your day is spent because your boss is too busy glued to his chair to get out and see customers, so not a tough or demanding position.
Cons
Company pinches pennies at every corner. After working my tail off for years and giving proper 2 weeks notice, they tried to withhold my bonus pay that I rightfully earned. Totally immoral and wrong.
Advice to Senior Management
Leave your cubicles and start listening to what the customers want- which is NOT 4 price increases in a single year.
Pros
Good benefits and flexibility with time off. Also 4 day work week.
Cons
No opportunities for advancement. Management looks down on transfers.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate advancement opportunities equally with all employees.
Pros
Great Training, Attractive Compensation, Diverse Product Line, Great People, Good Reputation, Job Options, Geographic Mobility, Presidents Club, Stable Employer, History
Cons
Having spent 5+ years in all 4 departments with 4 promotions, (service, production, sales and G&A) it is clear Cintas lacks middle management competency. "Partners" are promoted based purely on results, and we all know that often the best players make the worst coaches. Cintas is not supportive of "partners" pursuing higher education even in their own time. On three occasions pay plans were adjusted after the pay terms finished. My number one rule is don't mess with my money.
During my tenure, we were without a Human Resource Manager/Department, regionally or locally for 3 out of 5 years. Human Resources were not about improving the quality of their personnel assets, rather, for interviewing and hiring to keep up with the revolving door.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop thinking of your people as commodities. If you truly considered them your greatest assets, your already impressive growth would sky-rocket. Promote the best coaches, not just the best performers. Never, ever, ever leave a Human Resource position unfilled for budgetary reasons.
Pros
There is always a constant flow of work. Everyday seems to be much different than the nprior day, which makes it interestering.
Cons
Cintas does not assist professionals with a career plan. Once you are hired you have no idea of where your salary falls for the position that you hold. They appear to only promote partners who bragg abut thier accomplishments.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow partners visibilty to the pay range for the position that a partner currently hold. Allow visibilty to the pay range that a partner maybe interested in applying for.
Pros
Great benefits
Good employees to work with
Opportunities for advancement
Many policies and procedures in place for any situation that may come up
Cons
Pay not consistent across locations (or time)
Upper management has hidden agendas
