Pros
Good training from the beginning and ongoing.
highly recruited from by better compnaies.
SR Sales director is actually a very down to earth and smart individual.
It is a good starting point for a new college grad or someone from service to come over and make a better life.
Cons
TURNOVER!! My team turned over 5 times in 3 years.
Unrealistic sales goals! Understand there are 10+ other competitors now and Cintas is NO DIFFERENT! Matter of fact Cintas has the worst product quality around.
work/life balance is terrible. They make you feel bad for taking a vacation
MDR position is the biggest joke in the compnay! All they do is PAY the drivers for already completed CRF and they make more than outside reps and managers. They do not have to have the customer sign anything, so next delivery when 50 extra dollars in on the ivoice it hits the numbers., and most of the time immeditaly credited off, the MDR gets credit and paid and the driver gets hosed. The MDR role is designed to cheat the compnay and customers out of money. They are by far the worst sales people in the company.
SPARTAN = CHEAP ---- Cintas puts on a show like they care for their people but they do not show it. Everyone that has a sales force does a PC! It isnt that special
Phone Block = 8 hours of cucbicle work punding phones like "boiler room" ....... enough said!
Sales ans Service hate each other in every location I have ever been to. The reality is that sales will do whatever they have to do to maximize the 1st invoice and screw service on every account. Service does not want new business because their pay gets degraded every year and it just takes more time and adds more stops to their already long day
FEAR-- CINTAS enjoys doing corporate visits to local locations. Not because they want to help, or see things in action but to have each location put on 5 hour long power point presentations on why they all need to keep their jobs. The upper executives are the most arrogant people in the universe, starting at the CEO.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your front line sales people with respect and show them that you would like to have TENURED sales team for many years to come.
MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!! ARE YOU IN GROWTH OR MAINTAIN MODE? IT CHANGES EVERY QUARTER!
Eliminate the MDR role. You are costing yoyrself alot of money for someone to do the drivers job. Incentivise the SSR more to add product because they are already adding it ,but getting paid under the table to hand it to the MDR so they can get commissions , bonuses, and volume. You are paying 10x what you should. Not to mention, this is where 50% of the sales managers' commission/bonus comes from!! they do not care how it comes in and most of the time never see what they sell.
Pros
- Industry Leader
- Career Mobility (geographically)
- Expense Reimbursement is fantastic
- Did I mention Industry Leader...because they will...constantly.
Cons
- Dress Code
- Hours of operation (5am through...the rest of your life)
- Very Political
- NO training for mid-management
- Disconnected Compensation plan
- Super outdated regarding technology (don't expect a laptop)
- NO residual for salespeople
Advice to Senior Management
1. Ditch the suit and tie, midwest, retired US Marine mentality - honesty and dress pants is enough these days...besides, We're not bankers, we're selling work shirts and carpets.
1.5 - embrace the term TELECOMUTE - after all, aren't we supposed to be spartan??
2. Spartan has transformed into cheap. Start upgrading facilities and tools quickly, to meet your claims of being a "World Class" company.
3. Tell us where we're going, because NOBODY seems to know.
4. STOP killing us with safety...we're so focused on safety you'd think that's what we sell.
5. Eliminate overlapping scorecards between operations and sales - it's killing morale, fueling non-sensical decisions at local levels and causing new employees to wonder whether or not we know how to run this company in the first place.
6. DO SOMETHING with the document shredding division...apart from reaping gobs of revenue and chincing on sales rep comp plans.
Pros
Very good at training. Always on-going.
Most of the people that you work with are great people to be around.
Great Benefits
Good Car Package. They pay your car insurance if you are in sales.
Cons
1. Upper Management does not care about you, they only care about what you are numbers are
2. Relationship between service department and sales department is terrible. LACK OF COMMUNICATION!!!!!
3. Always running out of product,
4. No residual commissions for Sales Rep. Paid only on first invoice.
5. 100% cold calling. Very poor at providing leads.
6. They call themselves SPARTAN but are really CHEAP!!!!!
7. With the economy of the downside, they are expecting you to sell more while increasing their prices.
8. Always raising their prices on their current customers, as a Sales Rep you will get calls angry customers complaining about the increase. You do not get any compensation for dealing with current cusotmers. Customers get no warning on the price increases.
9. You are trained as a Sales Rep to say if you have a problem with service give us one chance to fix the problem, if Cintas can not you can cancel service. It does not say thay ANYWHERE in the contract. It say's REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. Does not say how long. They will send the customer a buy out letter to scare them into staying with them for service.
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach, come up with some type of residuals for Sales Rep on the Account they sell. Have a better lead system in place.
Pros
They have good benefits
They are industry leaders
They care a lot about employee safety
No fear of layoffs for the most part
Cons
They pay pretty low for most of the positions they have
They don't treat employees fairly when thinking of promotional opportunity, and tend to have a "good old boys network"
Unless you want to live in Cincinatti, there is not promotional opportunity for most professional jobs
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to the "little people" who make it work day in and day out.
Pay your production workers more fairly
Have a heart when it comes to your service partners and hot weather
Pros
If you are a peak performer great pay.
Great benefits
Opportunity for growth
Cons
Political
Less loyalty now
Not sure where we are going
Pros
Shared Values
People & the trust and respect from day 1
Business Model
Cons
Very large company with lots of employees
Pros
Many friends, great partners to be with.
So many have put in many years of service.
Cons
Don't pay partners what they are worth
Morale is very low
Mgmt has know idea of the great contributions and the accounts partners save every day
Advice to Senior Management
Please pay attention to the lower levels
Pros
medical is above average in this day and age, you get paid weekly so it feels like you are doing better than you are.
Cons
this place makes money by being sure it does not give one extra cent to its employees. If you love annual 2% raises and being bullied by executive management, this is the place for you. If you love mediocrity and lowered expectations why working hard not smart, you will go far at Cintas.
Advice to Senior Management
none, its great to be an executive at Cintas, its sucks to be anyone else. I have never seen a place where making money on the backs of the employees is part of the equation. Its hard to explain, you have to work there to understand how the company takes advantage of its workers blue and white collar alike at every turn.
Great stock to invest in though!
Pros
Drivers are for the most part honest and try to do their jobs
Cons
This company pretends to have corporate culture but it definitely does NOT. The Edmonton branch lacks in honesty. They try to show that they value their "partners" but it's all a SHOW. They have people in administration who have completely inappropriate attitudes. The drivers try to do their jobs to the best of their ability...with what they are given, which isn't very much. I wish I had warning before I stepped in that god forsaken place. Here's YOUR warning..stay for away unless you want to be miserable and put up with management who have their heads up so far up their own end they can't see day light.
As far as Customer Service goes, they have a lot of issues with that department as well. MANY customers are unsatisfied and complain to the drivers on a consistent basis.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be to replace your GM and your "catalog" sales...they are completely inappropriate and do not live up to what CINTAS is supposed to represent.
Pros
Make own schedule
Not too much required office time
Easy paperwork
Excellent training program
Great line of service and products to sell
Cons
Very low commission structure vs other sales divisions
No residual sales
No relationship selling
Ability to "manage" is dependent upon making "presidents club" which doesn't automatically make someone management material.
Advice to Senior Management
Luck of the draw on who is your manager. Some are good, others are very, very poor. Upper management in the SE in sales is getting really scary.
